Product Description

Deep in the Appalachian mountains, a reclusive American military veteran (Robert De Niro) and a European tourist (John Travolta) strike up an unlikely friendship. But when the tourist's true intentions come to light, what follows is a tense battle across some of America's most forbidding landscape proving the old adage: the purest form of war is one-on-one.

I was afraid this one was not going to be a winner and I was right. I should have watched the trailer first.
Both of the actors are getting a little long in the tooth for action movies, but de Niro is really pushing it at his age. It just was not believable! I am a few years older than him, so I was scoffing all the way through the film.
The torture scene, where de Niro punishes Travolta for his past sins in Serbia, is both overly violent for my taste and Travolta's unbelievable escape and the ongoing hunt for his enemy are again laughingly unrealistic.I know you are supposed to suspend your disbelief for this kind of movie, but for me it was just beyond my capability. I was giggling during the chase scenes...too much! I hope they had a medical team handy with resuscitation equipment while they were filming this movie.
Harsh maybe, but I feel it was a waste of my time and money. Both actors need to choose their scripts more carefully as time has marched on. Mister de Niro is doing well in the area of comedy and still is wonderful in suitable dramatic roles, but he should leave the action movies to the likes of Channing Tatum and Sam Worthington...Travolta too should stick to flying his jet and maybe take another shot at comedy or musicals again.
Two thumbs down for this one! I need to follow my own advice and choose my movies more carefully!

Not even close to my expectations for a movie of this calibre. The manhunter story is a good plot line, the casting is good with 2 A-listers, but just what happened to create this fiasco?? Maybe, just maybe, it was John Travolta with his bad Serbian accent and that obviously mis-coloured fake chin beard he sported. He made me laugh so much with his poor character portrayal, it was hard to take this so-called action thriller seriously. Even Robert DeNiro's performance is relatively sub-par for his calibre and style. Honestly, don't waste your money. From this one man's opinion, it's not even close to being a good movie.

By THE MOVIE GUY HALL OF FAMETOP 50 REVIEWER on March 8 2015
Format: DVD
The film opens in 1992 with a young De Niro shooting a young Bosnian POW in the back. 18 years later Travolta with painted on hair and a bad accent is out for revenge. De Niro has become a mountain man and near hermit. The movie digresses from the expected man hunt to a cripple fight. It tosses in a few seemingly meaningless words on war and life in order to try to make a point.

Travolta was not convincing in his role. De Niro had a few good scenes but mostly was going through the motions. There are better films of this kind out there. Even one with Steve Austin.

Makes for an okay action film rental if you can get beyond the Travolta look and accent. Some apparent CG special effects.

Parental Guide: F-bombs. No sex or nudity.
