Product Description

Somebody is murdering the women who played on a championship high school basketball team twenty years ago. Sheriff Lexie Wolfe searches for the link between the women that provoked someone to want them all dead. Lexie’s investigation intensifies when a local woman dies and the towns’ people blame her for the death. When Lexie discovers there are three secrets instead of one she fears more will die while the investigation goes in multiple directions. Her dilemma is further magnified by the fact that one of the women appears to be destined to be First Lady of the United States—provided she doesn’t die first.

The plot had great potential and it held my interest enough to read to the end, but I have a real problem with stories that are not written realistically. Whoever proofread this book did a poor job; there were many grammatical errors that had me cringing (yes, I guess you could label me a member of the Grammar Police) as well as unrealistic language, and I couldn't help thinking that the author is young.I've only heard young ones refer to cliques as "clicks". How many women, when snubbed by the man she's interested in, would not have any reaction at all to his unexpected confession years later that "I love you"? I'm glad I finished it because I wanted to find out what happened, but I don't think this is an author whose books I'll be reading again.

Donna Jones has the ability to put you "in the moment" as you read this novel. Her main character "Lexie" has many different masks that she wears as you go through the maze of past life experiences this character has had which is the driving force and reason she enters a life as a professional law enforcement officer. If you like "Evanovich" you are going to LOVE Donna W. Jones. Cannot wait for the sequels!!!!

I had so many things going on that when I got this book, I thought I'd try to read it between chores. You know, throw a load of clothes in the washer, read a bit, put them in the dryer, read a bit didn't work out that way. Oh, I got the clothes in the washer but they stayed there until I finished the book. I made a mug of tea, pulled my favorite blanket over me and turned on my Kindle. Donna and Sheriff Lexie grabbed me and wouldn't let go. I look forward to the next Lexie Wolfe novel. Way to go, Ms Jones!

The spelling and grammar errors (in 2 languages) really irritated me. There's also an error in the plot towards the end of the book which I cannot forgive. Another flaw: something else which was not explained, which I can't be more specific on because I don't want to spoil the book for any future reader. I did enjoy the characters, though. Honestly, I enjoyed the book until the end when I realized the major mistakes.

Some writing was a bit sophomoric and typos and misspellings rampant, but I enjoyed the read. This was a twisted plot with no clue whatsoever what the ending was. Some of the plotline was a bit unbelievable. No law enforcement agency in a tiny Oklahoma town has resources to get personnel to Bogota or even Washington DC. A good Sunday afternoon read.
