Product Description

Review

”This is a very reader-friendly book that both undergraduate and graduate students will appreciate. Its scope is manageable, but the book does not shy away from complexity where appropriate. This edition adds quite a few improvements and is a worthy addition to the library of any kinesiology student or faculty member.”
David W. Brzezinski, MD, University of Michigan Medical School

“The text is highly recommended for students beginning their study of human anatomy, particularly those students who learn best visually and kinesthetically.”
CAHPERD Journal (review of first edition)

About the Author

Robert S. Behnke, HSD, is uniquely qualified to write an introductory anatomy text that is preeminently user friendly to students. Retired after 39 years of teaching anatomy, kinesiology, physical education, and athletic training courses, Dr. Behnke has been honored on several occasions for excellence in teaching—including receiving the Educator of the Year award from the National Athletic Trainers' Association. During his 11-year tenure as chair of the NATA Professional Education Committee, he initiated the petition to the American Medical Association that led to the national accreditation process for entry-level athletic training education programs.

Most of Dr. Behnke's career was spent at Indiana State University, where he was a full professor of physical education and athletic training and director of undergraduate and graduate athletic training programs. Earlier in his career he spent five years teaching at the secondary level. He had extensive experience as an athletic trainer, both in high schools and at the university level, serving as head athletic trainer at Illinois State University from 1966 to 1969 and the University of Illinois from 1969 to 1973. He was an athletic trainer at the 1983 World University Games and for the U.S. men's Olympic basketball trials in 1984. During sabbaticals in 1982 and 1989, he served as an athletic trainer for boxing, men's field hockey, team handball, ice skating, roller hockey, gymnastics, judo, and cycling at the United States Olympic Training Center. He has been in demand as a speaker and as an athletic trainer throughout the United States and internationally.

These broad experiences enabled Dr. Behnke to understand the needs of undergraduate students—and to develop an unparalleled grasp of which pedagogical approaches work and which do not. Kinetic Anatomy is the culmination of his unique understanding; it should be a staple in undergraduate courses for years to come.

Kinetic Anatomy, 2nd Edition (Book & CD Rom)

I was looking for this kind of book on human anatomy, which is not written by M.D. but one from sports field. In it covers probably everything that trainer needs in his line of work. With a book there come also cd rom with pictures of bones, muscles, nerves. I am student of sport science and trainer and I am sure that this item will help me during my work and study. And by the way I bought this book after I readed that is one of essential readings by Eric Cressey.

Informative learning!! Dec 3 2012

This is a good book for the medical human anatomy student.
It is a very deep in depth medical "textbook" even though it is not a textbook.
If you want to learn this is a good book to read, research, and put into practice.
This is an older version and there are newer versions now available, but this book explains in detail injuries, location of muscles, and explains what muscles do.
This book is a large thick paperback cover book.

Everything was great. April 22 2013

The product arrived in great condition, EARLY as well. It is as if the book wasn't even used at all, and the pricing was over 50% off the price at school. The only "negative" was that the book was pretty simplistic and basic. But that comes with knowing what you're buying. But other than that, the seller definitely was on top of things (scheduling delivery and all) as well as honest about the quality of the product.
