Is now the right book ... in every way, April 25 2011

This review is from: King Raven (Hardcover)
The hardback copy I received today is indeed the book it's supposed to be. You may order this excellent trilogy with confidence that you'll be getting the right book.
The incorrect Kindle edition has been taken down. If you received the 'Dragon King' omnibus when you ordered the Kindle version, contact Amazon customer service about it. Amazon is good about making things right. When a Kindle version reappears here later, it will be the correct book.

Correct Kindle Edition Now Available, May 5 2011
By Tegid - Published on Amazon.com
The Kindle edition -- the correct book -- is now available, as of May 5, 2011. Please don't let the earlier customer service problem and the ratings that were based on that, rather than on the book itself, deter you from enjoying this excellent trilogy for a terrific price.

Beginning and End are great!, July 7 2011

Just finished "Hood." I'm going to wait til I have finished all three before I rate anything. As for Hood, I really liked it. I have no trouble whatsoever with the change of venue for the Robin Hood story. As a matter of fact, I rather enjoy books where the author attempts to convey a possible, historically correct story in lieu of a traditional myth or tale.
I love the character of Bran (Robin Hood). His childhood, youth, and troubles come together well to forge a believably motivated man. The touch of mysticism injected by the character of the old woman bard is just enough. I really enjoyed this first book and look forward to reading the next two.
I've started and am almost through Scarlet, book two of this omnibus. I have to say I am not happy. The problem that is unrelated to writing or Mr. Lawhead, is that throughout the text there are hyphenated words that shouldn't be hyphenated. This is happening enough to be very irritating. I have to assume that during transfer to electronic media, they don't have anyone check it afterwards.
The problem I have with the writing is that Will's portions are in first person, present tense. Then it switches to first person past tense. Then we go to third person past tense for the other characters/sections. I find this immensely irritating. It is very non-traditional writing style. Maybe I'm just too traditional to enjoy it. It turned me off right from the start and I have had to force myself to continue reading because I really want to see the story through to its end.
Finished Scarlet and started Tuck. So thankful that Tuck is written like Hood was--very traditional, straightforward third person past tense. So much more enjoyable. Finished Tuck and found the completion of the story believable and satisfying. Really enjoyed the historical notes in the author's epilogue. Personally I had no trouble with the change of setting. Everything made sense and fit.
I have to say that I would have rated this series with 5 stars had it not been for the second book and the way it was written.
