My daughter and I have enjoyed reading this together very much. We are using it as part of our home school program. Peter Akroyd in an excellent author and so was able to condense a huge body of academic data into an enjoyable and informative read. For us, it was just enough information. I had my daughter read it out loud and we would discuss the unfamiliar words, talk about the society, how good leadership affected society, use the words for her spelling test, and more. She has a great interest in Ancient Egypt so it was a perfect fit for us. We started the book when she was in 2nd grade but she is an advanced reader, and I wanted a book for her to read out loud that would challenge her.
