Robust Motor

Rugged 0.9-horsepower motor supplies the power for superb performance with all blending tasks--from pureeing sauces to making chunky salsas or uniformly crushing a pitcher of ice or frozen fruit within seconds for silky smoothies.

Easy-Clean One-Piece Pitcher Design

The clear pitcher is shatter resistant, scratch resistant, and stain resistant. The pitcher handle features a soft inner grip for firm, comfortable, no-slip control. The one-piece design integrates a functional pitcher with dynamic interior contours that continually directs food into the blade for fast, thorough blending. The one-piece design also means cleaning is achieved without removing the blade and other parts. Even more, the pitcher stands up to extreme temperatures--from boiling soups to frozen margaritas, and it has a wide pour spout to ensure smooth pouring. The pitcher is dishwasher-safe.

Patented Stainless-Steel Blade

Sharp oversized blade tines are positioned on four different planes for fast, thorough, and consistent blending. KitchenAid's durable blade design is built into the pitcher for easy handling and cleaning.

Intelli-Speed Motor Control

Exclusive Intelli-Speed control automatically works to keep speed constant--even through density changes when ingredients are added. This advanced KitchenAid design maintains an optimal blending speed for each culinary task and control-pad setting.

Speed Selection Buttons

Create frozen drinks and puree sauces or soups in seconds. Blend with confidence, control, and consistency at all speed settings: Stir, Chop, Mix, Puree, and Liquefy. The Pulse mode works with all five speeds. The Crush Ice mode is designed specifically for crushing ice and will automatically pulse at staggered intervals for optimal results.

Soft Start Feature

The blender motor starts at a slower speed to pull food into the blade then quickly increases to the selected speed setting. This design feature reduces start-up kick and allows hands-free operation.

Clean Touch Control Pad

Wipes clean in an instant. Smooth control pad has no crevices or cracks to trap ingredients.

Durable Steel-Reinforced Couplers

Commercial-quality couplers with 12 interlocking teeth provide direct transfer of motor power to the blade. Pitcher coupler is coated for quiet operation.

Stay-Put Lid with Clear 2-Ounce (60 mL) Ingredient Cap

The flexible lid will maintain its tight seal throughout the life of the blender. The lid includes a removable 2-ounce (60 mL) cap for convenience in measuring and adding ingredients.

Die-Cast Metal Base

The blender's heavy, die-cast metal base ensures stable, quiet operation when blending a full pitcher of ingredients. Four rubber feet on the wide, solid base provide a no-slip, nonmarring grip. Smooth and rounded, the base is easy to clean and features tidy cord storage underneath.

I went on a website that compared KitchenAid along with 4 other makes - 2 moderately priced ones and 2 higher-end commercial types. The test was whether the machines could liquify a whole apple or a whole orange with the rind on and some liquid. The KitchenAid came out on top without having to use a plunger of sorts and this item was also sold with the higher-end blenders. Hmmm. I decided to upgrade to the KitchenAid model even though my old blender was still functioning when I saw it on sale for just little over $100. You will also like how much quieter this blender is compared to others. I use it regularly and I can honestly say that I love it.

Being a longtime loyal KitchenAid customer (have spent over $2000 on small appliances in the past 5 years), I am not spending another penny on a KitchenAid product. I have owned this blender for a few years, but I have used it less than about 20 times. Despite light use and it being only ever handwashed, the jar is cracking in several places. Unlike a commentor on the US site, KitchenAid Canada was unwilling to offer me a replacement (yes, it was out-of-warranty, but U.S. customers are getting a replacement due to this specific issue well beyond their warranty periods). They have recently redesigned the jar but will not admit that it is because the other model was defective. Based on Amazon.com reviews, I am not convinced that the new jar is any better, and I am unwilling to throw good money after bad at this point. Also, they were not willing to replace a food processor bowl that was purchased months before they were manufactured BPA-free, standing behind the claim that the Government of Canada has not determined that BPA is harmful for humans to ingest. Yet, they redesigned the product without BPA...

This blender is going into my garage sale and a new Vitamix onto my Christmas list. Yes, it is a LOT more expensive but I know that it will last a lifetime and that they will stand behind their product...a company that understands that it is much more profitable in the long run to build quality products and ensure that customers are completely satisfied.

As a consumer, we can only vote with our dollars. It is worthwhile to invest in quality rather than buying into the current throw-away culture. Until we demand it, companies will just keep making cheap products and have you buy them more often. They make more money this way.

Had my doubts about this blender when i first started reading other reviews concerning the possibility of leaks and plastic cog failure, but mine seems to be running just fine. It is quite loud, but as far i know all blenders are. It almost sounds as if the plastic cog on the pitcher is too small for the matching cog on the motor body and it's slipping, but i can't see any signs of wear on either after repeated use; it must just be what it sounds like.

Performance-wise, it's on-par with far more expensive blenders such as Blend-tec. It does quick work of ice, frozen fruit/veggies, etc, all of which are blended quite consistently and smoothly. I've used it every day for over a month now and had no problems whatsoever.

Cleanup is very easy too. Simply throw the pitcher and lid in the dishwasher with the "heated dry" (or any use of the heating element, for that matter) turned off.
You can also simply rinse it out immediately after using and it will come just as clean, so long as you do it right after and as long as what you're blending isn't oily.

I highly recommend it, considering the price and performance in comparison to others available.

Does a real good job on liquefying veges and fruit such as apples, carrots etc. Half the price I would pay local and that's if it was on sale. However was misled about watts from other reviews, it is 600 watts. I am also impressed with Amazon. Being nervous about shopping online have stuck with only small items. The first shipping failed but Amazon was easy to get a hold of and corrected the problem right away.

Bought this blender to replace an cheap 7 year old blender. First year it worked well (I never put it in the dishwasher, so never saw leaking as others report). Blade broke shortly into the second year. Turns out replacing the blade means replacing the whole jug at approx 1/3 the cost of the entire blender!

Firstly, it's hard to imagine a piece of metal that comes under more stress in the entire house than a blender blade. That the engineering design requires that replacing a tiny piece of metal which will almost certainly break means sending about a pound of high quality plastic to the landfill and re-investing 1/3 the price of the blender deserves one star. It's a a ripoff and an environmental disaster.

Secondly, Kitchenaid wasn't much help. Amazon will ship you the blender for free, but replacement parts ship from Kitchenaid for $10.

Great appliance, easy to clean, "intelligent" speed control enables device to adjust speed depending on the resistance of the food being blended
