Amazon.ca Product Description
THE CLASSIC SERIES KitchenAid® STAND MIXER. It takes several important ingredients to be called a classic. Start with our celebrated tilt-head design that gives you easy access to both the beater and bowl. Then add a Flour Power Rating of 8 cups, which means you can make enough dough for 6 dozen cookies, 3 loaves of bread or 6 pounds of mashed potatoes
KitchenAid Classic Series 4.5-Quart Tilt-Head Stand Mixer
A KitchenAid stand mixer does a lot more than bring ingredients together--it brings people together. Like when you make chocolate chip cookies and discover that they're more fun to make with a friend.
Bring home a KitchenAid stand mixer and whip up a quiche, or make the day with a chocolate mousse. Go healthy when you cook from scratch and add ingredients you trust. (And don't forget that even making meat loaf, mashed potatoes, and gravy is easier with a KitchenAid stand mixer--comfort food is allowed.)
There's just no substitute for the meals you make or the time you share. And there is just no substitute for the KitchenAid stand mixer.
Time-Honoured Design and Performance for Your Kitchen
A classic kitchen companion, this user-friendly stand mixer features a powerful 250-watt motor that can handle a wide variety of culinary mixing tasks. The countertop appliance comes equipped with a generous 4-1/2-quart stainless-steel bowl. Choose from 10 speed settings, from a very slow stir to a super-fast whip, by simply sliding the lever. Easy access to the beaters and bowl highlight a tilt-head stand mixer. Tilt the head back for access, tilt down and lock for mixing. Three accessories come included.
Use the flat beater for normal to heavy mixtures like cakes, creamed frostings, cookies, biscuits, and mashed potatoes.
The wire whip works well for mixtures that need air incorporated like eggs, heavy cream, sponge cakes, angel food cakes, and mayonnaise.
Put the dough hook to work when mixing and kneading yeast doughs for breads, rolls, coffee cakes, and buns.
59-Point Planetary Mixing Action: 59-point planetary mixing action means 59 touchpoints per rotation around the bowl for thorough ingredient incorporation. The beater, dough hook, or wire whip rotates around the bowl, giving incredible bowl coverage for comprehensive mixing.
Direct Drive Transmission: KitchenAid tilt-head stand mixers have a direct-drive transmission for reliable delivery of power.
The Flour Power Index: 8-cup flour power.
Metal Construction: Assures long-lasting, stable operation.

There's absolutely no need to twist the bowl into the locking mechanism too tight. I do it very gently and it stays in place even when kneading bread or cinnamon rolls dough and once done I twist it in the other direction and comes off without any problems.
The overheating some are reporting when kneading doughs is that the machine must not exceed speed 2 when working on bread dough. If you do it at higher speed the motor isn't powerful enough and can't keep up specially when there's a lot of dough. For that kind of jobs you may want to look into the professional grade machines like the kitchenaid pro 600. I knead bread dough on level 2 and just let it run for a good 5-7 minutes and the dough comes out soft and velvety. The trick is to let it run on a lower speed even if it has to take longer.
Lighter tasks such as cake mix, whipped creams and even cookie dough I have no problem running on higher speed up to 10.
One other thing to mention is the first time I used this machine I found the head was wobbly. An issue experienced by some customers from the reviews I read. I had my husband tighten the 3 screws under the motor head like another customer suggested and the wobbling stopped. I think Kitchenaid needs to improve on their quality control in my opinion. Other than that, this machine was a great buy. It handled all I've thrown its way for my 10 year old daughter's birthday (we've baked from cakes and cookies to chocolate eclairs and key lime pie (recipe for key lime in in the kitchenaid recipe book).
Hope this helps !
This mixer is easy to clean, mixes well, and I get more desserts as she likes using it..
