Two bestselling Kindle novels together in one omnibus, including:

DARK HORSE
When high school student Derrick Booker, the only black student at a posh Orange County high school, is accused of killing his white girlfriend, ex-college football hero and detective Jim Knighthorse is hired to dig a little deeper into the murder. It doesn't take long for Knighthorse to realize that not all is as it seems at tranquil Huntington High, from a band director who preys on the innocent to a vice-principal with a secret agenda of her own. Not to mention someone's hired a professional killer to keep Knighthorse permanently off the case. As the investigation continues, Knighthorse's personal life is shattered by the discovery of new evidence relating to his mother's unsolved murder, a murder dating back twenty years. Reeling from the discovery, a determined Jim Knighthorse sets out to bring two killers to justice.

THE MUMMY CASE
Private investigator Jim Knighthorse takes on a very, very cold case. When historian Willie Clarke dies of mysteriously of dehydration in the California deserts, ex-football hero Jim Knighthorse is hired to dig a little deeper—and discovers a shocking connection to one of the West's oldest mysteries. Over a hundred years ago, an unnamed cowboy was murdered in the California desert and, due to freak weather conditions, would become mummified within twenty-four hours. Now known to the world as Sylvester the Mummy and displayed in a creepy curiosity shop, Sylvester and historian Willie Clarke will be forever linked in mystery. That is, unless private investigator Jim Knighthorse can survive long enough to untangle one of the West's greatest unsolved murders.

**Acclaim for the Novels of J.R. Rain**

"Gripping, adventurous, and romantic—J.R. Rain's The Lost Ark is a breakneck thriller that traces the thread of history from Biblical stories to current-day headlines. Be prepared to lose sleep!"
—JAMES ROLLINS, international bestselling author of Altar of Eden and The Doomsday Key

"I enjoyed this immensely. The protagonist, Samantha Moon, is a female vampire with a husband and children. Those predate her condition; six years ago she was attacked by a vampire and rendered into one. Now she's trying to carry on with family and private eye business, and she's a feisty, skilled person, so is doing mostly okay. It is not a horror story; she buys animal blood to eat and doesn't generally prey on humans. But her husband has an increasing problem with her coldness—not of spirit, but of body. 'You sicken me and scare the hell out of me,' he tells her. 'And when I touch you it's all I can do to not gag.' She replies, 'Words every wife wants to hear.' I love this! What makes it special are her character and nature."
—PIERS ANTHONY, New York Times bestselling author of A Spell for Chameleon and On A Pale Horse

"Dark Horse is one of the best books I've read in a long time! A great classic detective story with a modern twist. Unique and interesting characters (I think I'm half in love with Jim Knighthorse now!), a great plot that kept me guessing until the end, and some of the funniest lines I've read anywhere."
—GEMMA HALLIDAY, author of Deadly Cool and Play Dead

"Impossible to put down. J.R. Rain's Moon Dance is a fabulous urban fantasy."
—APRIL VINE, author of The Midnight Rose and Blindfolded by Lust

"Moon Dance is absolutely brilliant!"
—LISA TENZIN-DOLMA, author of Understanding the Planetary Myths and The Dolphin Experience

"Moon Dance is a must read. If you like Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum, bounty hunter, be prepared to love J. R. Rain's Samantha Moon, vampire private investigator."
—EVE PALUDAN, author of Letters from David

5.0 out of 5 stars Knighthorse a Sensitive as well as Tough and wise investigator. April 1 2010
By Julie Belmont - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Just finished reading Knighthorse by J.R. Rain couldn't wait to write the praise that I felt. This book is more then a detective murder mystery it contains real touches of humanness along with an Spiritual air that is very captivating. J. R. Rain comes across in this book as a very relaxed writer, one that brings you along the story with the comfort of a cup of tea on a rainy night. He merges his wit with true detective know how and decorum to bring the reality of a real case with the fantasy interlace of a novel. His characters come to life as you stand behind their lives involving the reader with true emotion. The concept of bringing Jack (God) into the story gives an unexpected added twist that really makes the reader wonder about the evidence of All that Is without being preachy yet giving the book a welcome spiritual or slightly paranormal insight. I highly recommend this book, it is an easy read and a must for the mystery novel aficionado.

3.0 out of 5 stars Knighthorse: Books One and Two Jan. 10 2012

Am now reading the second book. Can't really give the first book a 5 star. The quips were over the top. Actually became annoying after a while. The cursing that was thrown in for affect became really annoying as I had to skip over so many. Hopefully J R Rain will lighten up on the quips and cursing in any new books he authors.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent writing Jan. 27 2012

The Knighthorse series is excellent! The main character Jim Knighthorse is a very interesting person with all the flaws of real people. He drinks to much and works on solving others problems. JR Rain gave Jim alot of depth and filled his life with very diverse friends. If you only read one detective series, this is the one to pick!!! I give it 5 of 5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars I am still laughing Jan. 2 2012
By Wanda Peters - Published on Amazon.com

Much of the first book is spent in a McDonalds with our hero talking with a bum that claims to be God. Imagine what you would say if you could speak with God and I bet those conversations would not be anything like the ones in this story. The humor was dry but I am still laughing. Both of these books were great reads but I missed God in the second one. I definetly recommend this author.

I don't like a lot of his books...I'm not into vampires, etc. But Knighthorse is a great character and believable. A fun read. I'm hoping for more of these!
