I am having a lot of fun trying new techniques and creating lovely lace. It was hard to make some of the gathered stitches at first, but now that I have the hang of it - I love what I am making. I started by using more durable cotton crochet thread, which seems to have been a good idea as I was not gentle during the learning process. I also learned that shorter knitting needles are better as there is a fair amount of "acrobatics" required for some of the stitches. All in all - the lace is unique and beautiful.

Of course, this book is absolutely wonderful. If you're a knitter, then it needs no introduction.
But, buyer beware.....this is not a hardcover as stated. The included DVD does make it worth it, anyway.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Book & DVD combo is a bargain..., Nov 18 2010

There is also a stand alone DVD that is being sold for a few dollars more (http://www.amazon.com/Knitted-Lace-Estonia-Nancy-Bush/dp/1596683279/ref=sr_1_34?ie=UTF8&qid=1290109895&sr=8-34). I haven't watched that DVD, but the DVD included with this book is the same length (120 min) as that stand alone DVD, making this book+DVD an amazing value.

The description says that the included DVD is 60 minutes, but the DVD that came with my book is the 120 minute version.
