Fabulous Projects,
This review is from: Knitted Toy Tales (Paperback)
I have a couple of books of knitted toys now and without a doubt this is my favourite one. The projects are entirely charming and the book is full of wonderful pictures that integrate individual knitted toys into entire story scenarios. Laura Long sets her toy designs apart by adding beautiful felt and fabric appliques to her toys. It's a simple addition, but it really enhances the appeal of these projects. There are templates provided for all the appliques as well as some basic knitting instructions for beginners or for all of us who need occasional reminders about technique! Small hand drawn images combined with beautiful photography and short stories about the lives and personalities of each knit character make this book not just about knitting but about weaving tales. Even if you never knit a single thing out of this book it is a treat to browse and will provide lots of inspiration for enhancing other projects.

Fun knitting for all ages,

This is a great book for all ages. There are things easy enough for a beginner and some more complicated. My ten year old granddaughter made the cat first. I'm sure we're going to enjoy making many more together. The really nice thing is most can be made from left over scraps of yarn we all seem to have plenty of.

adorable knitted toys,

Directions are correct and easily achievable for a moderately experienced knitter. The author gives detailed information on the yarns, i.e., what kind and where you might find the yarn. That is the only difficult aspect of the patterns. If you want to replicate the project exactly as it is shown it may be difficult to find the yarn. The patterns are fun to work on and the result is as shown in the picture. The animals are adorable. I have enjoyed the book as I have made several of the toys for my grandchildren and for baby and child gifts.

wonderful toys,
By sophia's mama - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Knitted Toy Tales (Paperback)
This is a wonderful toy book - I have made mama bear, a mouse and a bunny and all turned out as shown. Easy directions. The only drawback is the finishing does not have very explicit directions - for instance mama bear just says to sew up the legs and attach. The toys are all beautiful and well shaped. A lovely book, much better than most out there.
