5.0 out of 5 stars it's the book! March 30 2014

Well, her writing is kinda juvenile but it was nice to read the book that preceded the movie. It arrived fast and in great quality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Completely different from the movie! Oct. 22 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
If you're a fan of the movie I Know What You Did Last Summer, this book is completely different. The only characters that are in the book that are also in the movie are Helen, Julie, Barry, Ray & Elsa. Everyone else is different. There is no fisherman. I have to admit though, I Know What You Did Last Summer is my favorite movie so I had to get the book it was based on, and I'm glad I did. The plot and everything is so much different so hopefully you don't expect the same as the movie. It was a great book though and a quick read, I finished this in 2 days, I couldn't stop turning the pages! The only bad thing I have to say about the book is that the ending sucked. Lois Duncan cuts the book off too quickly after the climax of the book which was the only disappointing part of this book, but I would definitely suggest reading this!

5.0 out of 5 stars Suspenseful and Chilling Oct. 17 2007
By Nicola Mansfield HALL OF FAME TOP 50 REVIEWER

This was a page-turning thriller! I came into this book 'cold-turkey', I hadn't read it before, nor have I seen the movie so I didn't really know anything about it apart from a general idea of the plot. It was incredibly suspenseful and chilling. The twist-ending was fabulous! But I wonder how they pulled that off in the movie. For a book written in 1973, it has a surprisingly modern feel to it. Apart from the mention of Vietnam and a college demonstration it felt very current. I have to say I thought that a YA thriller might be a bit lame but this was just what I would expect from an adult book, minus the graphic violence and sex. Duncan has a long list of books to her name and I'm definitely going to try another one soon.

Well, the movie was the first horror movie I'd seen in theaters. I enjoy slasher flicks and awesome chase scenes(Sarah Michelle Gellar) and then I heard there was a movie novel. I thought I'd never read it because they usually follow the movie until my friend told me it was somewhat different.
Being curious, I found this book is an extreme treasure and the movie makers could've had a MUCH more successful movie by following the book. It gives the feeling of mystery. Some "I knew it!" moments, and pure excitement.
Now, none of the four main characters die, which was the first quality I liked because I cared very much for Barry and especially Helen(both died in the movie). It doesn't add a stupid slasher effect but I was okay with that.
Overall, this book beats the movie by far even if the movie was good.

I know what you
Did last summer
I know what you did last summer is a book with many different types of action and mystery. The book is about a girl named Jamie that wants to get accepted into a college called St. Thomas. She gets into the college. The first day she is their she meets 4 people. Right away she feels welcome by these people because they are so nice. Jamie and her friends decide to go out to eat. But they realize that the closest restaurant is 10 miles away. They have to go straight through this huge forest. Jamie was driving and she saw this blood dripping down her windshield. She waited a little at realized that the blood spelt "I know what you did last summer". She really didn't get why it said that so she kept driving and didn't say anything. That was a mistake. Many more times this happened like on the shower mirror, She gets letters and she thinks it's from a friend and she opens it and it says, " I know what you did last summer". This book is a great thriller; you never want to put it down. Will they find who or what is doing this?

5.0 out of 5 stars A suspenseful mystery April 26 2004

Format:Mass Market Paperback
The author of I Know What You Did Last Summer is Lois Duncan. This book is a very suspenseful mystery story about four teenagers. The main characters in the book are Julie, Helen, Barry, and Ray. Some of the major events in I Know What You Did Last Summer are when Julie gets a note about something that she and three of her friends did last summer, Helen gets a picture of a boy on his bicycle, and Ray gets an article that was cut out of the paper about the accident. Then, Barry gets shot by a mysterious person, Helen almost gets killed, and Julie almost dies.
I absolutely LOVE this book. It is so suspenseful and mysterious, and I like suspenseful things. It was especially suspenseful when someone said that they were going to get Julie, Helen, Ray, and Barry because of what they did. This book starts off interesting and exciting. I think it does because it was very mysterious. It was mysterious because someone that the four friends did not know about what, or who, was coming after them and sending things to them. I feel like I am right there in the book with the characters. This is most likely the most suspenseful that I have read in my whole life.
I think the theme in this book is "Count on your friends to help you." I think so because Barry and Julie think that there is no point in living and that this is the end for them. Then, amazingly, their friends Helen and Ray help them get through their stage. If you are a person who likes mysterious things in life, you should definitely read I Know What You Did Last Summer.
