Very nice little camera!,

This review is from: Kodak PlaySport (Zx5) HD Waterproof Pocket Video Camera - Black (2nd Generation) NEWEST MODEL (Camera)
I bought this camera to take video and pictures of my coral reef aquarium and it does a very nice job at it. The photo mode produce a 5mp image but there is no option for the compression or the quality of the image. It is not the best camera for making still images as there is no white balance. The camera render the orange a little off but the rest of the colours seem to be quite accurate. I did have some freezing issues but that has been resolved after installing the new firmware. Overall I am very pleased with this camera and for the price it is awesome to be able to photograph and take video of my coral underwater in my aquarium. I have been using it for 6 months on regular basis and never had any leakage. This camera does not do a great job in low light and the images can become a bit grainy then. With good light, the video in HD quality is great and the color are nice and well saturated. I paid 150$ for this camera, and honestly I don't think I can get that much for so little from another camera. Plus it looks really cool in blue :) Battery life is very good and the provided software although basic, still does the job nicely. For reference, here are a few of my video with this camera: [...]

Disappointed,
By Jason R Price (Lethbridge, Alberta Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kodak PlaySport (Zx5) HD Waterproof Pocket Video Camera - Red (2nd Generation) NEWEST MODEL (Electronics)
I am really disappointed with this camera. I took it on vacation about month after getting it and tried it in the pool to see how the underwater capabilities worked. It worked just fine until I noticed there was water underneath the screen.....not good! It took several hours for that to clear up. I tried it the next day (not in the pool) and while recording it froze up and was unresponsive. I couldn't turn it off or get into the menus or anything. During this time the temperature of the device became extremely hot yet there was nothing I could do until I got back to our hotel. I ended up having to find a paperclip so I could press the reset button to get the device to unfreeze which worked except now my memory card was corrupted and we had lost 3 days worth of videos. Unfortunate but not the end of the world. So I pop a new memory card in (I'm hoping to be able to recover the corrupted card) and now the directional button barely works. Up and down movements are hit and miss while left and right movements simply don't work. I don't know if I just got a lemon or what but I am not at all impressed with this camera. I would gladly return it to Amazon but my return window expired 5 days ago (the same day we got home from vacation). I guess my next step is to try contacting Kodak to see what they will do for me.

Works Well but Can't Access SD Card,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Kodak PlaySport (Zx5) HD Waterproof Pocket Video Camera - Red (2nd Generation) NEWEST MODEL (Electronics)
We purchased this camera from Amazon.ca and it arrived well ahead of estimated delivery time which was great as we wanted it for a cruise we went on.It worked well on the vacation and still works well now BUT we can't access the SD card. The latch is stuck. The latch was also stuck on the adaptor cord side too but I managed to get it open. The only way to download pictures now is to plug in the USB cord to the computer. Tried running it under warm water, cold water but nothing will open it. Tried using a screwdriver gently because we don't want to ruin the seal but that didn't work. Luckily we can open the USB cord latch otherwise the camera would be useless if we couldn't download the pictures. I would not purchase this camera again. We have another Kodak camera that works just as well if not better than this one, it just isn't HD.
