Good sound, but may not last longer than a year.,

These are really good ear-buds that stand their own even when compared to some higher end pair of headphones. Good for general listening, though some people might find the bass a little heavy, but it definitely isn't overbearing. Works great to muffle exterior sounds on the bus or in busy coffee houses, making it possible to enjoy quieter songs. Comes with replacement ear foams, but I never had to switch them. Unfortunately, the wire did erode where it connects to the jack after a good year of use. To be fair I always wrapped it around my mp3 player and used it on a daily bases. I threw them out after sound only came through one ear. For the price, it's still worth it.

I am a "lawn care technician" and I've tried a ton of earbuds. These are still working just fine as of today. Now, you should know that I mainly listen to podcasts on my iPod and for the spoken word, these work just fine. If you're getting them for listening to music, you may want to upgrade to a nicer set of buds. It just depends on how particular you are. For general listening to people talking, these are fine. The one feature that I really like on these buds is the little volume control thingy. You can up or down the volume without digging your iPod out of your pocket every five minutes. That's just a real, real nice feature. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful

I've tried tons of earbuds over the years, and these are far and away my favorite. This is actually my second pair; I finally wore the first pair out after over a year of use.I have really small ears, and all other earbuds were always painful to wear. These do not hurt at all. I just roll the foam in my fingers like you would a foam earplug, insert, hold in place for a few seconds, and the foam expands to fit. It also comes with replacement foam pieces--the foam will eventually wear out and lose its springy-ness, but I find that takes months. This set also came with a pair of rubbery bud covers if you prefer that over the foam. They seem to be softer and more flexible than a typical bud cover but I still prefer the foam. The other thing I love about these buds is the incredible bass sound--I've yet to use other buds that come close. I'm not the kind of person who will spend more than $20 on earbuds, and for the cost these are really impressive. One thing I did not like about the first pair I had was that it came with a mute button on the cord that eventually shorted out and would cut out the right side. This newer model pair comes with a volume adjuster right on the cord instead. I'm hopeful it will last longer, and it is very convenient to have. Be aware, the foam buds also cut out a lot of external noise. This is great in the office (I'll even put a bud in my non-phone ear when I'm on a call to cut out office noise) but I would not use them on a busy street. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful

The Most Comfortable In-ear Headphones Ever Made!,
By Kenneth Pesantes - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Koss PATHFINDER Lightweight Earbud Stereophone with In-line Volume Control (Electronics)
Koss Pathfinder headphones are probably the only in-ear headphones I can stand in my ear for more than an hour without my ears hurting. The way the foam part is tapered, instead of most headphones where its more like a bud, is the main reason. Also with these headphone you can have them all the way in or slightly pull them out a little and they stay in unlike the poorly designed Apple iHeadphones and others. All the others I've tried either hurt my ear after a while or they are always falling out.The Pathfinder has great sounding low frequencies as well as a broad spectrum of tonality and aural range. The in-ear foam blocks out almost all outside noise. I love these to block out annoying loud people on cell phones or distracting noise on the train but am careful not to walk down a dark street at night with these on. I'm sad to say my only criticism of these fantastic headphones is the volume control, a great addition to these but feels cheaply made as well as the cable leading up to the ear piece. I'm on my 3rd pair within three years and they always seem to not work after heavy use due to the wire connection in the volume control or the thin wire itself. What happens is the sound comes out of one headphone and then I have to jiggle the chord or it permanently turns into a mono headphone setup. My 3rd pair are going strong after 1 month but I know sadly in time these will fail but I'm hooked on this model because they are so comfortable, great sounding and not outrageously priced. Almost perfect. |
