Product Description

Amazon.ca Product Description

This 2-1/2-Inch coarse thread, 2 square drive washer head screw works well in 1-1/2-Inch thick material. The washer head of this screw is our most popular head style as the wide bearing surface of the head will not overdrive in the bottom of the pocket. This is especially important in so Feeter material such as plywoods and composites. The screw also features a type 17 auger tip that self-taps its' own hole, eliminating the need to predrill in even the hardest materials. Kreg screws also have larger diameter steel shanks than many other screws on the market today making for an impressively strong screw that is almost impossible to break. Our screws have a bronze colored finish and a dry-lubricant coating that eases driving torque and provides greater rust resistance. For maximum rust resistance, look to our Sun-Seal coated weather resistant screws.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love the Kreg! Nov. 26 2013

The kreg tool is amazing! I love how I can hide all the screws and not have to worry about putting them in at the wrong angle.
I have looked everywhere for the cheapest kreg screws and this is it! Amazon beats them all hands down. 3 cents a screw compared to 5 cents. It doesn't seem like much but definitely adds up when you're using a thousand screws in a project

5.0 out of 5 stars Kreg pocket hole screws 2-1/2" Jan. 11 2007
By Gary T. Durst - Published on Amazon.com
Product quality control is exceptional. I have found no defects in the lot I purchased. Unlike lot purchases made with other type of fasteners in which I've found defective heads making some pieces unusable. In other products with self tapping design I have found the tip was messed up on some screws making the self tapping feature fail.

Kreg has a good design but what makes their product exceptional is the product quality control. They hurt their image though by selling their large count quantities in brown paper bags. A good product needs to be delivered in a good package.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product for combining 2x4s, but not using the Harbor Freight Jig Dec 3 2012
By vanduima - Published on Amazon.com

I recently got into woodworking and purchased a pocket hole jig to use. Since most of my projects were going to be using standard pine 2x4s, I decided to get a large box of these screws so I wouldn't have to go to the store every week.

I gave these screws 5 stars because they are a great product, but there is one huge caveat I need to mention.

When I got my pocket hole jig, I decided to go the cheap route and got one from Harbor Freight instead of the official Kreg jig. Kreg recommends using the 2 1/2 in screws for joining 1 1/2 in thick material to 1 1/2 in thick material. With the Harbor freight jig, the angle is such that using these 2 1/2 in screws will poke through when joining perpendicular boards. I had to purchase 2 in screws in order to make these joints. For parallel joints, such as a table top, they work great though. Hope this helps someone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great solid item April 16 2012
By Woody - Published on Amazon.com
I have been using Kreg products of a few years now and I love everything about them. I find that buying the screws here on Amazon is the best buy. I can no longer find them in Home Depot I do not know why, they have changed their dealers maybe?

I am a bit of a late comer and a female so my knowledge is not that of an expert, but I do make some nice things for my home an I find that having the right screw does help.
I do not know how I could have made such a big and beautiful chicken coop without these products.
I do not know about you but when I am ready to make something I do not want to wait for a delivery so I buy big. I have several of these boxes in my shop just waiting for me.

I like to use mostly the coarse screws I feel they just dig in stronger, some like the fine ones. Don't get me wrong I do have the fine ones it is that they are not my favorite.
You may think, a screw is a screw, maybe, but you would be wrong, these are unique in that the heads have a square hole, that can only be screwed in with square driver.

The head is also larger than the average head because it is meant to be used in conjunction with the Kreg pocket hole jig. That is not to say these cannot be used by themselves I have done that also. The head is attractive on top and does not deter from the look of a piece if it is visible.

2.0 out of 5 stars They work, but cost a lot more than they should. June 21 2013

These screws work great, but they are really expensive for screws. Amazon has a better deal on them than anyone else, its just that Kreg is way to proud of them to start with. Hopefully someone can find another supplier.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great price Sept. 3 2013

I use these for building work benches and rolling tool carts in the shop. Plus anything else made with 2x4's. My "local" big box store is about an hour away and is almost always out of stock on this item. They charge a lot more too. The price for 2 boxes of 50 screws there, is more than I paid for a box of 250 from Amazon and its delivered right to the front door saving me 1/2 tank of gas. I will be reordering more.
