Product Features

  • Unrelenting Sharpness, Kyocera's ceramics hardness advantage translates into a rock like edge that will not roll like steel blades. The result is a razor sharp blade that retains its original sharpness 10 times longer than steel knifes.
  • Unparalleled Purity. Ceramic is a pure and healthy alternative. Unlike steel blades, ceramic blades will never rust or change from its natural state. It is totally impervious to acids, juices, oils, salts, or other elements. As a result, it will never alter the taste, smell, or appearance of food.
  • Ultra Lightweight. Kyocera ceramic cutlery is typically half the weight of an equivalent steak knife. Since the ceramic blade is so light, no artificial weight is added to the handle. This creates and extremely balanced, lightweight tool, reducing fatigue during long repetive cutting tasks.
  • Easy maintenance. Ceramic does not absorb food elements, allowing just a quick rinse and wipe with a kitchen towel. Hand wash or dry with kitchen towel.
  • Quick rinse and wipe clean

Sleek grounded, polished blade in black.

Product Description

Ceramic knives offer exceptional strength, unparalleled sharpness, and ultra-light weight. The cook's knife is well-suited to cutting, chopping, and slicing fruits and vegetables. And, because ceramic doesn't transfer metal ions to foods, fruits and vegetables won't brown where they've come in contact with the knife blade. The razor sharp blade retains its original sharpness for months or years without sharpening. The light weight of ceramic creates a well-balanced knife that is an extension of your hand, gliding effortlessly through even the most difficult tasks. The resin handle provides a highly controlled grip, and the non-stick ceramic blade surface makes for easy clean-up.
The strength and density of fine ceramic allows grinding to microscopic precision by diamond wheels. This hardness translates into a rock-like edge which retains its edge 10 times longer than conventional steel blades. Contact the manufacturer for re-sharpening service.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sleek and light - 2nd choice for Kyocera knives Dec 27 2011
By Koula
Color Name:Black
I first bought the 5.5" Santoku Damascas and also own the 3" Damascas. I was disappointed that Kyocera does not make a 7" Chefs Damascas knife to match my set but resorted instead for the 7" Revolution series chef knife.

It's not quite long enough for cutting bunches of lettuce. My preference is still to reach for the 5.5" Santuko for most jobs, and so far the 7" revolution knife fulfills about 5" of my cutting needs. While each home chef will intrinsically have unique cutting habits and needs, this is still a beautiful knife with extremely light weight. I just wish it was 0.5-1" longer and came in the Damascas series (KyoTop) appearance to complete my Damascas set.

Nevertheless it's a premium knife by a company who is the 418th largest in the world according to Forbes Global 2000.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sharp..Made in China May 17 2013
Color Name:Black|Amazon Verified Purchase
I purchased my first ceramic knife in Japan and was bluffed by the Chinese tour guide that it was only made and sold within Japan. I loved the knife set and used them for more than a year until my wife chopped bones with it..LOL. Everything's got its special uses, you don't kiss your poisonous pet spider, and you don't chop bones with a ceramic knife, unless you are in desperate need of a makeshift handsaw.
Well, she's a perfect wife except doesn't think too much about anything, I couldn't really yell at her, she cooked for me with a smile for more than a decade without complaining while I gun down zombies on PS3.
I was totally shocked to find out that it is for sale by Amazon and shocked again when on the packaging it is 'made in China'. I'm from China but suffered from all kinds of fake brand-names and poor quality products for so long that I'm more than a bit leery at buying anything delicate and expensive. But I have no choice. Can't really fly to Japan for a knife. But really hoped it was made in Japan, hence a 4 star.
Other than that, man, steel knives are history, these are Knives of Art, like cooking is. Ok, you wanna go out driving a Mercedes, and you wanna keep one of these knives in your kitchen too, even if you don't actually cook, like me.
