Fantastic, beautifully designed book. The sophistication and elegance of each recipe are reflected throughout the design.Gave it to a friend for her birthday. Ordered it Friday and received it by Monday! She absolutely loved it, specially the silky soft texture for the cover.

I was expecting this to be a nice book to have since I have been to Laduree's a few times and love it. What a wonderful treat when it arrived! This book is WONDERFUL! Full of tempting delights with great pictures and the presentation is outstanding. I have not yet tried any recipes but have reviewed some and they appear to be user friendly--however not for the shy cook. I can hardly decide where to start cooking, I can see working my way through the entire book. Even if you are not a cook, it is just lovely to have this book in your collection. I highly recommend anyone interested in enjoying wonderful food should have this outstanding book.

This book is more of a piece of art or a beautiful jewel rather than a book I would want to have on my kitchen counter next to my Kitchenaid full of buttercream. When I use it I make a copy or write out the recipe on a piece of paper so as not to get it greasy or stained. I trained in Paris and am familiar with Lauduree, an elegant pastry shop. The recipes are well written clear and presented in cups and grams. I do suggest one buys a scale and uses the metric grams rather our silly American cups which are inaccurate. This book is not for beginners and is well suited for those with some pastry experience or who possess patience as pastry is very specific. If you happen to get to Paris be absolutely certain to try Lauduree's blueberry tea.

go to amazon UK to buy this book,

some of the people who try and resell these books at double the price on amazon, let alone $999 - are thugs.to buy this book for an honest price, go to the bottom of the page and click on United Kingdom - there you will find the book for its original 30$ price, and even with standard shipping (6-10 days), it'll still be much cheaper than what these people are asking for it. i should add that i put 1 star to catch your attention, but that this book is an absolute masterpiece. it's a work of art, and has all the classic beautiful traditional french dessert recipes. if you have only one dessert book, i would highly recommend this one. a wonderful gift to yourself or a friend. 11 of 14 people found the following review helpful

A bit underwhelming,

This review is from: LADURÉE, SUCRÉ (ANGLAIS) (Hardcover)
I bought this book to add to my ever-growing cookbook collection. I work as a chef and have done some pastry work, but have few good pastry cookbooks, so I thought this would be a great addition. I was a bit underwhelmed though.Firstly, this book is awkwardly small. I've never seen another professional cookbook this size. Secondly, while others heap praises upon the padded, velvety cover, I found it impractical and a bit silly. It attracts grease and means you'll need to photocopy or write down recipes to use, rather than cook out of the book. Thirdly, I found the collection of recipes rather disappointing for an acclaimed Parisian pastry shop. I not only expected more in quantity, but more in creativity. There wasn't much here that I haven't seen elsewhere. If you want a cute little pastry book to sit on your end table or in your breakfast nook, this may be it. Or if you're a passionate fan of Laduree, then you'd better get it. Otherwise, for the price, I'd skip it. |
