Aug. 28 2002 Jack Reacher Series
KILLING FLOOR (Director: Michael Page) - "I was eating eggs and drinking coffee. I was in a booth, at a window, reading somebody's abandoned newspaper. Outside, the rain had stopped but the glass was still pebbled with bright drops. I saw the police cruisers pull into the gravel lot. They were moving fast and crunched to a stop. Light bars flashing and popping. Doors burst open, policemen jumped out. Two from each car, weapons ready. Two revolvers, two shotguns. This was heavy stuff. One revolver and one shotgun ran to the back. One of each rushed the door. I just sat and watched them. I knew who was in the diner. A cook in back. Two waitresses. Two old men. And me. This operation was for me. I had been in town less than half an hour." - From the opening of this searing tale of honor and revenge where Jack Reacher, a former military cop, hunts down his brother's killers. DIE TRYING (Director: Michael Page) - In a Chicago suburb, a dentist is met in his office parking lot by three men and ordered into the trunk of his Lexus. On a downtown sidewalk, Jack Reacher and an unknown woman are abducted in broad daylight by two men - practiced and confident - who stop them at gunpoint and hustle them into the same sedan. Then Reacher and the woman are switched into a second vehicle and hauled away, leaving the dentist bound and gagged inside his car with the woman's abandoned possessions, two gallons of gasoline…and a burning match. TRIPWIRE (Director: Laura Grafton, Engineer: Jeremy Spanos) - Jack Reacher is settling into lazy Key West when his life is interrupted by a stranger who comes looking for him. When the stranger turns up beaten to death in the Old Town cemetery - fingertips removed - Reacher knows whomever the man was working for is not a friend. Reacher follows the trail to New York.

1.0 out of 5 stars Lee Child CD Collection Oct. 1 2011
By Bob R - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
An abridged audio book is normally six CDs or six hours, or approximately 1/2 of the unabridged book. That is what I expected for each of the three novels in this collection. I had previously listened to six unabridged books by Child, each 11 CDs.

This collection was abridged to 3 CDs or some 70% abridgement of each novel. Too much is taken out. The key element of the primary character is his thought process, excluded due to the extreme editing.

I would recommend only selling either the unabridged version of a six hour version of this series of books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lee Child CD Collection1. May 14 2008
By Michelle Ford - Published on Amazon.com

I first met Jack Reacher listening to the audio version of Lee Child's "Hard Way" and immediately wanted to read or hear more of his books, based on this character. I readily ordered the Lee Child CD Collection 1, happy to learn that such collections existed. As soon as I finish one Reacher novel I'm ready for the next. This character is a likeable loner, ex-military police, a highly intelligent, licensed killer able to render one dead in seconds. Reacher always finds himself caught up in some mystery as he literally wanders the country. Books are formulaic, of course the key is writing formulaic well and different and Lee Child is a wonderful writer never losing his gift for suspense and thrills. If you like this sort of entertainment, check him out. If you spend lots of time commuting listen to Dick Hill's narration of these books, he's great.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's abridged folks, beware! April 28 2008

First off not a fan of abridged books as you lose the depth of what the writer is doing in painting you a mental image. That said this is a great deal for Reacher fans who want a quick listen to three great stories. If you are looking as a first time reader of the Jack Reacher stories, I would recommend the actual books or unabridged versions also available on Amazon. I started with Tripwire and it hooked me. Just be aware not all of Lee Child's Reacher novels fill in the blanks about the character. You have to read several to start getting the full background on him. Very much like the James Bond character, but more graphically violent. We'll see if they ever get the movies made that I have heard are in the works. Hopefully it will be the darker style of the books and not cheese version that Hollywood has done with other action figures. Reacher is a good guy, but he does things his way which aren't always the "proper way" and is what I like about him. Also if you ever wanted to "drop-off the face of the earth" yet still live life your way, then the Jack Reacher stories are for you.

Every thing he writes is great; I prefer the unedited but this is still good.
