Product Description

This Twinblade aircraft is literally revolutionary! Spin the rotor blades and lift off like a helicopter. Then rotate the engines 90 degrees and power forwards like an airplane while the dual tail fin ensures steady flight. With its red and white coloring and engine exhaust details, the Twinblade is easy to spot high in the sky. Back on the ground, use the ramp to access the cargo hold and when you want a new challenge, rebuild it into an old-fashioned biplane or a speedy helicopter.

Bought this for my dad for his birthday because he loves his helicopters.
He had a tough decision which set to build last since this creator set had 2 helicopter in it.
He builds his favorite last.

As always, Lego sets are fantastic for constructive play, and much appreciated by the recipients (kids and grown-ups alike!)

Lego's Creator Tilt-rotor for 2014 Jan. 6 2014
By R. Ferguson - Published on
Nut-job Lego-loving parent here. Ignore my star rating. I don't get free Lego for these reviews...

This set arrived on the market in December of 2013. MSRP is 17.99. It is often wise to cross check with Lego on price and availability.

A fantastic little set at a good price, Lego has a real winner here. While the set is not large enough to hold mini figures, it is large enough that kids can imagine they are the same scale. There are three designs in this set (you can build one at a time): a tilt-rotor, a helicopter, and a biplane. The main set is the tilt-rotor, and it is very good, but the second and third designs are winners as well. Kids will have a great time building the sets, all of which feature general purpose pieces (see below) and they all have great playability. The tilt rotor has rotating engines/rotors, just like the V-22, as well as a small loading ramp in the rear. I would have liked to have seen better wheels on the set, since these don't roll very well. I think this could very well be one of those little sets that a child remembers long past their youth.

This is from the Creator series. I always encourage parents to keep on eye on this line because the models come with multiple designs and they use lots of general purpose pieces instead of single-purpose pieces (e.g., a giant wall element that can only be... a wall). These designs are closer to what Lego sold when I was little, but the building techniques have advanced considerably. Kids can learn a lot from these, and with the multiple designs, they are more likely to take them apart and experiment with new designs. These also make great gifts, since they are good collections of bricks that can be made into anything. Don't like the design? Build something else.

Highly reccomend! Complex and Challenging fun for Dad and Son! Aug. 25 2014

Like all of the LEGO Creator sets, it's the 3 in 1 design that makes this Lego set so enjoyable. We had previously only enjoyed the smaller sets such as "Red Thunder" LEGO Creator 31013 Red Thunder, which incidentally at less than $5 is a great place to start with someone just getting into Lego. If, like us, you have established your affinity for the magnificent toys that they are then this "Twinblade Adventures" is a good next step up, and significantly more involved and complex than the simpler and less expensive sets previously mentioned.

Although the suggested age group is 7-12, we found a capable 5 year old - already introduced gradually to Lego, could cope - with some breaks and plenty of encouragement. The satisfaction shown on completion was well deserved!

The primary build on this set is a model of the V22 - Osprey, as made famous by The USMC. There are some in civilian use, and so the colorful livery on this one is not inauthentic and in keeping with Lego's commitment not to model war and violence (unless it's intergalactic, medieval, ocean borne, or "LEO").

In conclusion, we have found that 90% of the fun in Lego sets is in the building - and that the play is limited. Clearly other sets with Lego people, designed more for play, will offer a different perspective. We are enjoying those without play themes first, valuing them as educational toys that increase mental and digital dexterity (fine motor skills). To the extent that building is fun, the 3 in 1 "Creator" sets offer the best value, and this one specifically, is highly recommended.

Very nice set.
It's contains very clear instruction booklet for each of the models. All the parts that you'll need in order to build the models plus some extra tiny pieces.
My 4 Y/O can follow up the instruction easily, he builds one of the models then dissemble it and start all over again with a different model. He can sit for hours at a time with one set.
My 3 Y/O on the other hand, can't follow the instruction but do like to play with the parts imaginary games, not much you can build with those other than what's it meant to unless you have more Lego's sets.
