There is much more to LAROUX than being BULLETPROOF!,
By
This review is from: La Roux (Audio CD)
When Laroux first released her current self titled CD, in the summer of 2009, it generated favourable reviews from the majority of music critics in the UK and impressively debut atop their album charts at #2.This release is a major contributing factor currently nourishing the present musical fervour in the UK toward the sounds of "nouveau new wave" ~ a musical format highly influenced by the sights and sounds of 1980s new-wave. Laroux remains loyal to the 80s formula yet her unique vocal quality sparks a renewed warmth into the project. As Lene Lovich previously achieved with "New Toy" and "Lucky Number", the bulk of the material on LAROUX is straight forward dance with a twist of lyrical astuteness. With her "Flock of Seagulls" hairstyle and "Bronski Beat" falsetto, she generates an air of merriment back into pop music. LAROUX may sound mindless but one must pay close attention to the lyrical content provided on the CD. Tracks such as "IN FOR THE KILL", "BULLETPROOF", "I'M NOT YOUR TOY" and "FASCINATION" could have had the potential etiquette of being disposable pop yet subtle lyrics vehicle a carefully camouflaged message behind the musical vibe. If you enjoy the electronic-pop sounds of the new-wave era then I highly recommend for you to instantly refresh your eardrums with a good dose of 2009's "LAROUX".

Fun!,

This review is from: La Roux (Audio CD)
This is a fun light beat album, but feels a little empty at times. We get a vibe from the pop dance culture of the 80's! I enjoyed all their songs & can't wait for their next album. Good futur for this UK based singer!
