Una gran pieza literaria latinoamericana/ A great piece of Latin-American literature Oct. 17 2009
By R. Pujols - Published on
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase

It is too soon to talk about the future of this piece. Nonetheless, I can assure that it is already among the greatest pieces of Latin-American literature. It takes places in the times of the rebel slaves that claimed liberty and a more just system, the origins of the Haitian Revolution. Great beginning and terrific ending. The way she links those two is amazing. Recommended.

My Book "Isla bajo el mar" April 25 2012

I really enjoy reading Isabel Allende but this e-book has way to many typos and as a Spanish reader it bothers me that no one took the time to review the settings when printing this one. I want my money back. I will still read it because of the author.
Thank you.

I had a problem with the first shipping, because the book was in bad condition, and i bought it to give it as a present to my wife. I send a mail to Amazon and they sent me a new book in five days. I'm very glad with Amazon, and I'm saying it to all my friends and family. I will buy at and I recommend everybody that do the same.
It's a very good book and I think that (for me) it could be the best book by Isael Allende.

Sorry for my poor english but I'm spanish and it's hard to me to do this.

Thank you and best regards.

Very interesting history Oct. 31 2012

I bought this book because Allende writes in (for me) understandable Spanish and her books help me a lot in improving my vocabulary. However, this story turned out to be an extremely interesting history of the time of slavery in Dominica and in the U.S. It made me do more research into the history of Haiti and helped me understand how they got to the situation they are in today. It was also interesting to compare the issue of slavery as practiced in Haiti with the way it was practiced in Louisiana (New Orleans). This is a great story of a young slave and how she persevered through her years of servitude, but it is also historical account of the period. Like most good historical fiction it follows actual history in general, but does not read like a history lesson.
