About the Author

A member of the faculty at the Boston College Carroll School of Management since 1968 and chair of the Business Law Department for over a decade, Professor David P. Twomey has received numerous teaching and service awards at Boston College. He has written 32 editions of his textbooks and numerous articles on labor, employment, and business law topics. As Business Law Chair, he serves as a spokesperson for a strong legal and ethical component in both the undergraduate and graduate curriculum. He also has a special interest in curriculum development, serving four terms as chairman of his school's Education Policy Committee. Professor Twomey is also a nationally known labor arbitrator. In the context of impending nationwide railroad and airline strikes, his service includes appointments by Presidents Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush, William J. Clinton, and George W. Bush to eight Presidential Emergency Boards, whose recommendations served as the basis for the resolution of these labor disputes. Professor Twomey is a member of the National Academy of Arbitrators. He is also a member of the Massachusetts, Florida, and federal Bars.
