This review is from: Lacy (Paperback)
I've actually just read the reprint paperback. The copyright on this novel is 1991, which explains a lot. The last latest release Diana Palmer book I read was a disappointment as her recent novels are very "cookie cutter, formulatic". I would suggest she re-reads this novel. Lacy and Cole have problems but work through them together. Cole is trying to accept and understand himself while at the same time trying to understand loving (physical as well as mental) someone else. He wasn't Diana's typical I know everything about sex alpha male (That would have been Turk, Katy's love :)). As for the two women sub character's: Katy (Cole's sister) was loved for who she was despite making some very bad decisions and Turk accepted that she wasn't "lily white" as he wasn't either (I almost didn't think I was reading Diana Palmer when I read that!) Faye turned out to have an inner strength to see her through a tough time. She did cave quite easily to Ben at the end, but considering the time period being an unwed mother was not really an option taken lightly. Plus she really loved Ben (Cole's younger brother).I really like Diana Palmer's books even though I have to get past most of the men being 10 or so years older than the almost teenager female lead in all her recent novels. I think if she actually wrote a book where the female character was older than the male(especially in her town of Jacobsville) it would be a shock. This book was a refreshing change. If you didn't read it the first go round "Lacy" is worth picking up this time.

This was a super read. I really got into their lives. Though if was about Lacy, all members of family were intertwine. One of her very best. But than I always say that with each book I finish reading. Diana Palmer never disappoints her readers.

From the back cover:Where there's smoke, there's fire... When delicately beautiful Lacy Jarrett arrived at the Spanish Flats Ranch, she had eyes only for Coleman Whitehall, the big Texan cowboy whose dark handsome face and fierce gaze betrayed his Comanche heritage. Their every exchange crackled with intensity. But even when convention forced them to marry, Lacy could not evade the obvious: Cole did not love her. What Lacy didn't know was that Cold had kept a whole chapter of his life utterly secret. To tease out the truth, she would have to ignite the unspoken passion raging between them. Amid the earthy rhythms of ranch life and the heat of the sizzling Texas sun, Lacy fanned the flames of the raw sensuality that bound them to each other...until even the taciturn Cole could not longer deny the burning ecstasy that was theirs for the taking...
