Product Description

Product Description

Told through a collection of laugh-out-loud and often disturbingly silly stories, Ladies Squat: And Other Things I Learned from My Mother is a quirky, unconventional celebration of the special bond between a mother and daughter. Tales like “The Rooster Box Incident”, “Spotted Cows”, and “Pink Diarrhea” offer a fly-on-the-wall glimpse into one daughter’s relationship with her mother to share the invaluable life lessons learned through one mom’s refusal to wear underwear, episodes of unintentional nudity, and a superhuman case of irritable bowel syndrome.

“It’s not often that a book makes me laugh twice in an hour, and Ladies Squat managed to provoke two laughs in the space of a minute. Bravo!”

“I LOVE [the] life lessons in every chapter. They are a good reminder of things we were all taught as a child, and things that maybe we weren’t taught as children but are darn good hindsight pointers for us as adults!”

2.0 out of 5 stars Wanted More May 20 2012

I really wanted to like this book better than I did. I enjoy autobiographies, and I've enjoyed quite a bit of fiction about sassy, brassy southern women. And that's what Miller's mother, who goes by the nickname 'Turtle' is. Certainly it did sound like a crazy experience growing up in Miller's house, but I was never really moved to laughter. My response was more along the lines of "yep, that's kind of crazy, let's move on."

As a reader I felt like I never really connected with this narrative.

The tounge in cheek nature of this book is great. It is a very fast light read with a really good message that no matter how old you get you will always cherish the memories you make with your mother and never forget the things she taught you, even if they are useless and/or unconventional.

This book was absolutely hysterical! I never put it down, and laughed out loud at every page. It was grotesquely, disgustingly, hilariously AWESOME! I swear this was my life to a T. I am going to have to get this book for my mother, seriously.

To the author: I swear on my entire life that I have experienced the "pink situation" with my mother almost exactly as you had. I am so sorry that you have been scarred for life (I know I was)! HAHA! Loved every second of it! Great job.
