4.0 out of 5 stars lovely lady emmaline, Jan 9 2006

Just read this over the weekend. It was a sweet read that I finished in a few hours. Definitely predictable, but well-written enough for me to want to keep reading (and not put it down). Lady Emma is a poised, amiable, and capable heroine, and Devreux is suitably rakish. Some interesting side characters -- a hyperactive widow, a semi villain, and a formidable grandmother add some fun. Read it for a few hours of escapist reading. A solid signet regency.

Brilliant!!!!

Here we meet Lady Fallbrook (Sister of the Duke of Kelbourne in a Wagered heart) who never married her one true love and married someone else instead.
Several years later after the death of both her husband and son, she is still beautiful and the rave of the ton. With pressure of her from both her mama and grandmere to marry again (both of whom never remarried either, the running joke of the book)she has no desires for their pressures until her one true love returns.

Unfortunately I read this book out of order, I'm just so organized like that, but to Ms Woodward's credit each of her books stand by itself.
This is one of those books you finish reading in hours because it's that good.

This is one of the best little romance novels I've read in a long time. It has a fun plot and is just different from the normal cut and dry romance novel. I really enjoyed it. I finished it in just a couple hours because it's one of those books you can't put down.
