Product Description

The True Fit Rebound (model C670) is one of the newest additions to the True Fit Convertible Car Seat family. This seat delivers all of the standard features from our original True Fit with several new features. This seat features the standard no-rethread easy-to-adjust harness. The harness is for use up to 65 pounds. Our easy off head rest and easy off pads are standard too. The C670 model features smaller bottom rails and the patented Rebound Energy Management system--a flip up rebound bar that actually helps manage the rebound in the unlikely event of a crash. Pull the bar forward and it snaps in place with your rear facing installation and flip it back with you move to the forward facing installation. This seat is fully lined with EPP foam and has deep side wings that really surround your child. We have added a center angle indicator in the front of our seat for use when installing in the rear facing position. This new easy to read indicator will help you determine if you have installed your seat at the angle recommended by Safety Advocates. We have also moved both side LATCH attachments so they are easy to access when you are installing your seat and easy to secure when you remove the seat from your vehicle. Your purchase of this item supports the Lamaze International mission to help moms and babies have the safest, healthiest birth possible.

We book this car seat for our second car and didn't want to spend more $$ on another Britax. It has way more leg room when backward-facing and my son really liked that. We've had to change the Britax to forward-facing (he's 14 mos now) because his legs were just too cramped but he can still sit backwards with the Lamaze. (Read reviews that it's safer to keep kids backward facing for as long as possible) It's a lot roomier than our other car seat and the padding is very comfortable. The removable head piece is quite high so just make sure you double check your blindspot if you install it behind the passenger seat. Great price for a great car seat. May get one for the grandparents...

This car seat is super easy to install and adjust. It's very comfortable for my son and the look is quite nice. My only complaint would be that when the package arrived their was a piece that had popped off and a bar was loose because of it. My husband quickly rectified this.

Awesome Car Seat at an Awesome Price! Jan. 8 2011
By Madi - Published on Amazon.com
Color Name: Black Verified Purchase
Firstly, I would like to give Amazon and the seller an A++ for fast shipping. I was expecting to have to wait at least a week for this seat. I placed my order on January 5th. My estimated delivery was January 11th-14th. The car seat arrived on January 7th! I was amazed. And quite happy because I was anxious to get it. This review will be more of just an overview because my daughter has only ridden in it one day, but so far it is an awesome seat.

After doing tons of research for a convertible car seat for my fast growing 6 month old daughter, I thought I had run out of choices. I had previously owned a Safety 1st Alpha Omega Elite, and not only was that car seat a monster in size, it was also a pain to install, and it didn't even fit in the backseat of our 2007 Chevy Impala. I ran across this True Fit Premier, and it looked to be just about the same size as the Alpha Omega Elite,so I was weary of buying it. I had also looked at more expensive choices like Britax, but none of them have the Anti Rebound Bar like the True Fit has. I am very happy with my choice. The True Fit Premier was a BREEZE to install. I believe I got it installed 6 minutes, 7 tops. It was so easy I had to re install it again to make sure that I had done it right. The instructions are clear, with lots of pictures, and tips(are very helpful for people with little knowledge about car seats).

The first thing I noticed when the package arrived at my door was how small it was! I was expecting a huge box, but the True Fit Premier(TFP, from now on in my review) was in a mere square shaped box. I opened it and took everything out and was extremely surprised that the seat was very compact. I think someone who reviewed it earlier commented on how big it was...Maybe they have a really small car? This seat is very compact for it's design, even with the head rest on. I love how it came with the LATCH already threaded for Rear facing, that made it that much easier to install.

Another thing I noticed right away was how soft the cover was. It's extremely plush and cushioned. I put my daughter in it to adjust the straps, and she just smiled and sat there. She squirms and wiggles to get out of her infant carrier. I was pleasantly surprised.

Overall, this car seat is awesome. It's extremely easy to use, and install. Everything is color coded. The instructions are printed right on the car seat itself, so if you misplace your manual, you've got a reference. I love the high harness weight to 65 lbs forward facing, though I won't be using that for a while since my daughter is only 6 months old. I love this seat, and I have no idea why anyone would give it a low rating. It is simply great.
I've compiled a list of the Pros and Cons I've come across for this seat. I hope they help in your decision.

PROs:

PRICE- Currently this seat is $90 off. That is a great deal!

FAST SHIPPING- I ordered the seat on January 5th, the seat arrived on January 7th.DAYS before the estimated delivery date.

MANUFACTURE DATE- I've never ordered anything like a car seat online, so I was a little worried about the Manufacture date being recent. Pleasantly surprised, the date of manufacture on my car seat was 7/06/2010.

SIZE- The seat may look big in images, but it is surprisingly compact. It installed in the center of our 2007 Chevy Impala, with room in the front to spare. My fiance is very tall, 6'3", so space was a big concern I had. He can recline his seat the way he likes and comes no where in contact with the TFP. **A note. Only newborns and young babies that don't quite have head control need the seat to be installed at a 45 degree angle. Once your baby is older, like my daughter who is 6 months old and can hold her head up, and sit up by herself, can have the seat installed at a more upright incline. I used a level and she is at a 37.8, which is perfect because she hates laying down in seats, and it also allowed more space for people riding in the front of the car**

SOFT COVER!- I hated the cover on our infant seat. It was scratchy. The cover on the TFP is extremely soft and plush, the seat is nicely cushioned, and it seems like it'll be very easy to clean.

SNAPS!- This is one of my favorite things about the seat. The cover comes off with snaps! It's so easy to remove it's silly. You undo a bunch of snaps, then you have like 4 elastic straps to undo and you just slide the cover right off. Easy peasy!

EASE OF USE- Everything was extremely self explanatory and with a quick read of the manual I had the seat installed and ready to go in less than 10 minutes.

LATCH HOLDERS- I use LATCH, but if for some reason I can't one day, the holders will come in handy.

ADJUSTMENTS- Everything was easy to adjust on this seat. Pull two knobs to adjust the harness height. Pull a strap to tighten the harness. Pull a level to take the head rest off. Everything is so easy.

CONS:
I've only found one con so far but if I find more I'll have to come update you. The one con that is pretty minuscule is that the plastic chest clip felt a little flimsy to me. I think it's flexible to be able to fit the baby/child better, but I was expecting it to be so flexible. But that's the way it's made so it has to be safe.

I know this review was long, but user reviews are what helped me decide to buy this seat, so I hope that mine helps someone out there!

3rd SEAT!! Feb. 24 2010
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com

I have 2 C630s, have had them for over 1 year now. I just purchased the C670 because once again it is the highest rated convertible car seat on the NHTSA website: [...] I had to purchase this seat because two weeks ago we were rear ended, when the accident happened our first concern was out 19 month old son. I remember looking back at him, terrified and he was smiling watching a DVD, it is as if nothing happened to him. We got paramedics to check him out and they were impressed with his demeanor. I thank God for saving us all, but I also attribute his safety to the The First Years True Fit C630 he was sitting in. Due to insurance requirements we have to replace the car seat and it was a no-brainer for us to stick with this brand and model. Thank you First Years/Learning Curve for making a good product in this era of recalls and substandard materials.

I will give you an update in a few months when I have used it for a while.

Great Seat for the money - the entire line. Sept. 15 2010
By Kenneth Lininger - Published on Amazon.com
Color Name: Black
I cannot understand the negative reviews posted for these seats. I have one and am about to purchse 3 more for our two vehicles and two kiddos. Every function is simple, and ingenious. We have traveled ever since our first child was 4 months old and took this seat everywhere - all around the country. I have installed it in every rental car imaginable with relative ease. The belt locks are genius in my opinion, but the same result could be accomplished with two seperate cinch mechanisms with a latch belt that was split and fastened permanently to each side of the seat - whatever. Mostly i got to use the latch system, but on a couple of occasions, the locking clip had to be employed in an older vehicle or a newer vehicle without latch hooks in the location where we wanted the seat. I am an engineer, so maybe I have an advantage. I actually laughed when I read some statistics that stated 'most people install car seats incorrectly'. I have seen what others do as parent almost 3 years and concurr. It is not that difficult in my opinion, and I have not encountered a vehicle yet where this car seat couldn't be installed. The newest 'rebound' feature is interesting and probably useful in a hard rear end collision. Resultant damage or movement of the seat would not change if the impact is from any other direction - in my opinion.

All kids are messy. First mistake is allowance of eating in the car. My kids don't eat in my truck, typically, and I just don't have mess problems. Sure some cheerios once in a while, but thats it. My wife however, allows anything and everything. Yes, everything and anything will go down in to the crotch strap pass through - so what - clean it out when you wash the cover. It is not that difficult. Yes, the seat can get messy, but I just don't see any other design being any less 'mess preventative'. Washing is really simple to accomplish compared to the other seats we own. I typically take all the belts off and wash them too, as they tend to get sticky. All in all, I think the design looks cool.

How can the padding not be good for babies or kids? I don't even know how to respond to this one??? This seat is great. If you want more padding, buy the 3rd party pads....

After having owned and tried several others, the belt buckling system is just so simple and smooth to operate. Negative reviews on this sub-system are just incorrect and unfounded. Read the manual, use it properly. I can get my kid strapped-in inside of 10 seconds and out in less - tight, even, comfortable --- safe. I cannot say that for any infant-only seat or any other forward facing toddler seat. If this review is pivotal in any way towards its purchase, send me an email, and I video this activity and proove it. Would be glad to send it to anyone...

Very happy, but with a few caveats...***UPDATE Crash Results*** Nov. 11 2010
By Sebass - Published on Amazon.com

***UPDATE from Car Crash***

First of all, let me say that if your kid can face backwards...put them backwards. EVERY TIME, no questions asked. It's strange how so many people gave us crap for it because our child's legs looked smushed or he couldn't see all the cool stuff. Who cares. Would you rather have smushed legs or a snapped neck?

In January of 2011 our car was rear ended on the highway while stopped with the other car going about 40 MPH. The car was totaled. Our 16 month old's biggest problem was being scared. Once mom got him out of the car he stopped crying and then starting hamming it up with the paramedics.

There are two things that I hold as facts from this experience:

1. This car seat saved my child's life and prevented any and all injuries along with the 2011 Jetta Sportwagen he was in (VW is awesome)...not saying another car seat wouldn't have done the same thing, but I can only speak from experience and this did the job.

2. Because HE WAS REAR FACING at 16 months he is still alive. Call me dramatic if you want but had he been forward facing with his 99th percentile head his neck could have snapped and most likely would have. He was a premature baby by about 8 weeks and in Michigan you have to have an authorized person install the car seat the first time before you can leave the hospital. That state trooper told me too many stories about unstrapping kids that would have been okay had they been rearfacing. Just do it. Only now that he is about 25 months have we just turned the seat around as he outgrew the manufacturer guidelines for rearfacing.

***Here's the original review:

I scoured over all sorts of internet reviews before deciding on this car seat to upgrade my 15 month old (at the time more like 12 months) out of his Graco Keyfit 30. We have one car we use exclusively for the baby, a 2010 Jetta TDI Wagon. We absolutely love the car, but this seat is almost too big to rear face in the middle (where my wife insists I put this). She is only 5'4" but I'm 6' and when I push the seat back to drive I bump into one of the corners of the car seat and this is without the added headrest. Over time it just seems to loosen the position of the seat and I have to "reinstall" it again. But, with the forward facing setup it fits perfectly fine so I'll deal with it. Remember, kids should be rear facing as long as possible, even after the "experts" say they don't need to be. I think this one goes to 35 pounds which will still be awhile for us.

A few notes:

The directions have incorrect colors in them on the tabs that lock the belt into place under the seat cover. In fact, I recommend you take off the seat cover and check out how it all works underneath before attempting in the car. You'll be a happier person if you do.

You have to feed the tightening strap in rear facing up through the hole so it sits in front of the kickback feature. If you don't you'll be sorry.

Make sure to get some old towels, depending on your car you will most likely need to adjust this in the rear-facing position so your baby's head doesn't droop forward because the incline is too high.

I'll update the review when we switch this around to front facing but right now I'm happy after figuring the above 3 things out. That's the only reason this doesn't get 5 stars.

Safe seat but a few issues April 18 2011
By E. B. North - Published on Amazon.com
Color Name: Black Verified Purchase
Seat has fantastic safety ratings. I like that you don't have to put the two sides of the crotch buckle together before you snap them in. We had an infant seat where you had match two pieces together like a puzzle and then insert them in the crotch buckle - super inconvenient! The only thing I don't like about this seat is when you install it the rear-facing position with the LATCH system, you need to unsnap the cover and take it partially off to get the anchors in correctly; the problem is that if the seat is installed correctly, there is absolutely no way to snap the cover back on once you've done that. Also, the instructions refer to a "red lock" that needs to be snapped after the LATCH belt is tightened, and we only have blue locks (believe me...I searched all over the unit!),so I think it was just a misprint. The instructions under the seat pad refer to a blue lock and not a red one. It looks nice and my daughter seems to like it.

UPDATE: After using it for a couple months, I have to say I'm not happy with this seat. In rear-facing mode in our vehicle (a Ford Edge), there was no easy-adjustment for the harness or recline feature. You can't reach either with the rebound bar being in the way, so you have to completely take the seat out to adjust them, then put the seat back in and retighten everything. I am a small woman, and I found the installation/tightening of the seat to be really difficult. As mentioned earlier, I also could not get the cover to snap in place for the same reason. When we needed to put the headrest on (when baby reached 22 lbs), you couldn't recline at all or push the front seat very far back without hitting the TrueFit, which is pretty inconvenient and disappointing, since we drive a crossover, not a tiny car. As other reviewers have said, don't buy this seat really thinking there is a reclining feature, because it can't really be considered a recline; it's very slight. We need another seat for an additional vehicle and I won't be purchasing this one again.
