Product Description

From Amazon.com

Christian (Wes Ramsey of the washboard abs) is a waiter, party boy, and first-class man magnet. Elder Aaron Davis (Steve Sandvoss of the goofy grin) is a straight-laced Mormon missionary. When he and three elders, including the uptight Ryder (Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Mysterious Skin), move into Christian's Hollywood apartment complex, it's clear something's got to give. Christian tries to make his new neighbors feel welcome, but they're put off by his flamboyance--the short-shorts, the rainbow flag in his yard, etc. When Christian's trash-talking pals at Lila's restaurant, including the cynical Traci (Amber Benson, Buffy the Vampire Slayer), bet that he can't seduce one of these clean-cut young men, he takes them up on it and sets his sights on cute, soft-spoken Aaron. As a pretense, he asks to learn more about his Church, but where they really connect is over their love of old movies, everything from Psycho to Tommy. When Aaron accuses him of being shallow, however, Christian starts to wonder if the bet wasn't such a good idea--plus he's starting to fall for the guy. Turns out the closeted Aaron feels the same way about him, but when his roommates find out, he's shipped back to Pocatello where he faces excommunication. Written and directed by C. Jay Cox (Sweet Home Alabama), a former Mormon missionary, Latter Days features Mary Kay Place as Aaron's disapproving mother and Jacqueline Bisset as the acerbic, yet supportive Lila. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

5.0 out of 5 stars so so sooooo good! the gay movie we all need to see..., Sep 22 2005
This review is from: Latter Days (Unrated Edition) (DVD)
every once and awhile a movie comes out of the thicket of movie pollution that is forced upon us these days. latter days is one of those gems! the story moved me to tears at the end and my body to tingles. true, the plot may have seemed rushed at times, but the way it all came together in the end smoothed that right over. latter days is one of those beautiful stories that makes us want to improve our lives and to find that someone who means more to us then even our own lives. bravo to all who were involved. thank you for bringing a story to me that i will treasure forever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Latter Days Sparkles!, Jan 4 2005
By A Customer
This review is from: Latter Days (Unrated Edition) (DVD)
I received this as a Christmas gift and had no preconceived ideas of the movie as I had not heard of it. After viewing it I can tell you that it is way above the average movie of this type. I too was moved to tears in some scenes and felt the pain of the characters. Which is not to say it is a depressing movie. It sparkles with life and real people, and humor is a great part of the movie. A good, solid script coupled with good actors, good direction and pleasing camera work, all combine to provide a sparkling and different look at our gay world.

5.0 out of 5 stars really quite good, Oct 27 2004
This review is from: Latter Days (Unrated Edition) (DVD)
My DVD of Latter Days finally showed up yesterday and I sat down after work to watch. It was a very well done story with believable characters and wrenching emotions. I did cry through a few parts. Being raised Mormon this story rang true to me but you certainly don't have to be a Mormon to enjoy this film. All in all a very nice story that I believe many people will enjoy.
