Product Description

From Booklist

Dani Sinclair is the new CEO of a textbook-publishing company, but she'd rather be an actress or a stand-up comic. So when she literally knocks Luke Miller down and then discovers that he owns a comedy club in Erie, Pennsylvania, her hometown, to which she has just returned, he appeals to her on several levels. Luke, however, blows hot and cold. Readers into Jacobs' WLVH romantic comedies (Lovehandles, 2005; Night Calls, 2006) will enjoy this one, although some readers may resist the numerous coincidences and somewhat unrealistic behavior. 4.0 out of 5 stars Another sweet funny story to make us laugh out loud, Jun 27 2007
By Kelley Hartsell "Kelley" - Published on Amazon.com
Ce commentaire est de: Laugh Lines (Hardcover)

Holly Jacobs takes us back to Erie and gives us a chance to catch up with those love-inclined DJs at WLVH, "Where love is more than just a song," in her latest book, Laugh Lines.

Dani Sinclair has just moved back to town to tackle a new job as CEO of publisher Hamlin Texts. Her very first day on the job, a series of unfortunately events, the last in the string being trying to escape a killer bug (without the "killer" part it just sounds stupid) when she literally bumps into Luke Miller, owner of the local comedy club Chuckles.

Luke is intrigued by the funny Dani and finds himself wanting to spend more time with her, even inviting her to open mike night at the club. When Dani finds out she has a hidden talent for comedy Luke suddenly runs cold on her. What went wrong? Their relationship started out quite hot, in spite of her family's penchant for crashing every single one of their dates. So now Dani has to find out what it takes to stand up with Luke and find the love they both deserve.

Dani is a young woman, confident in herself and her abilities in the business world, but so tightly wound up in her new job that the only chance she has to blow off steam is on stage in front of the mike. It also doesn't help that her family seems to think her incapable of taking care of herself. Her life is finally starting to fall in to place so when Luke goes all weird on her she can't understand what's wrong.

Luke is drawn to Dani in a way he hasn't experienced in quite a while. He's nervous though, after his last disastrous relationship. As much as he enjoys spending time with Dani, he can't help but compare her to his last girl friend and that makes for quite a bit of tension and conflict between them. Watching him come to terms with his past and accept Dani for who she is will make everyone fall for Luke, along with Dani.

The title of this book, Laugh Lines, is quite appropriate both for the story and the talent of Holly Jacobs. I knew it was going to be funny when much of the book takes place at a comedy club and the heroine is the new up-and-coming local talent. Add in the fact that Holly Jacobs is known for writing sweet funny stories that make me laugh out loud and tug at the heartstrings and I found a thoroughly enjoyable reading experience that made me able to escape my own worries for a while... even if certain scenes did make me burst into laughter at some rather inopportune moments.

4.0 out of 5 stars fun lighthearted romp, Feb 28 2007
By Harriet Klausner - Published on Amazon.com
Ce commentaire est de: Laugh Lines (Hardcover)
Accepting the job as CEO at Hamlin Text, publishers of education books, Dani Sinclair returns to her hometown of Erie, Pennsylvania only to be under attack by a woman eating mutant bugs in a gas station bathroom. She flees out of the bathroom almost knocking out Luke Miller with the door. She explains about the killer monster inside as he drives her to a meeting.

Luke, owner of Chuckles comedy club, enjoyed her saga of the killer bug so he invites her to perform standup at his establishment. She reluctantly agrees to try her hand at comedy. A few rotten tomatoes and other fruits and vegetables later, Luke and Dani begin to fall in love, as advertised by the disc jockeys of love emceeing at the club and hosting their shows on WLVH radio romance.

The fourth WLVH Radio Romance" (see NIGHT CALLS, LOVE HANDLES and PICKUP LINES) is a fun lighthearted romp starring two likable protagonists. The humorous novel hooks the audience early when Dani fleeing from the terrorist bug that almost decapitates Luke. Her story to him of her escapade to escape an enemy combatant that sized her up as lunch sets the tone of an amusing contemporary romance that never misses a laugh except for a kiss.
