16 writer donate 24 stories to help fight Breast Cancer, Feb 22 2006
This review is from: No Law Against Love (Mass Market Paperback)
This is one amazing PROJECT. I was one of the editors, loved donating three stories as an author -- Bad Cat, Getting it in the End and Double, Double Toil & Trouble. I did the book cover and many of the illustrations inside. I am VERY PROUD to have worked with these caring authors from Canada, Britain, Europe and the USA for a VERY WORTHY CAUSE. We make NO money. ALL NET PROFITs go to help stop the killer of women - Breast Cancer. Hats off to author/publisher Leanne Burroughs, owner of Highland Press for giving me a chance to be a part of this wonderful adventure. So we offer you 27 stories of love from our hearts to yours. And it's a labour of love, hoping to see the end of this killer in our lifetimes. Guys-- Perfect Birthday, Anniverary or Valentine's Day Present. This book was only a "thought" three months ago. Now is selling like crazy and everyone involved couldn't be happier. 16 Writers offer 24 stories straight from the Heart. No Law Against Love Anthology is the launch book for Highland Press. All net profits from this project are being donated to Breast Cancer Awareness and Prevention through the American Cancer Society. Writers from around the world - from published to debut authors - donated their stories to show love happens in some of the funniest places. 27 stories from Historicals, Paranormals, Contemporaries and even Futuristic Romance. Kristi Ahlers, Cheryl Alldredge, Rekha Ambardar, Susan Barclay, Leanne Burroughs, Cissy Hassell, Patty Howell, DeborahAnne Macgillivray, Victoria Oliveri, Jacquie Rogers, Jennifer Ross, M.J. Sager, Michelle Scaplen, Kemberlee Shortland, Jeanne VanArsdall, and Diane Davis White.

Delightfully Funny - Sensual - Pure Joy, Feb 20 2006
This review is from: No Law Against Love (Mass Market Paperback)
Take sixteen very talented authors; mix in some of the most arcane and ridiculous laws that ever existed (with some still on the books today); – mix them all up; and you are in for an unbelievably rollicking good time! Yet, the best and most important thing to remember is that these wonderful ladies are doing this all in the name of charity. All proceeds that could have been theirs will be donated to the American Cancer Society for Breast Cancer Research. The stories run the gamut of genres, from contemporary, historical, fantasy, in short there is bit of just about anything you can think of that will tickle your fancy and pertain to one of the ridiculous laws. DeborahAnne MacGillivary opens the stage with a very sensual tale of ‘Bad Cat’ when she tackles the Destin, Florida law of ‘Any dog or cat which attacks and bites a person or another animal without provocation, shall be deemed a ‘bad dog or ‘bad cat’ and the owner shall pay civil penalty of one hundred dollars’. Burroughs gives you a sinfully sweet taste of sensuality with ‘Chocolate in the Afternoon’ when she takes on one of Great Britain’s laws that says – ‘It’s illegal for a lady to eat chocolates on a public conveyance’. Watch out for the law in North Carolina that Cissy Hassell had a ball with – ‘If a man and a woman who are not married, go to a hotel/motel and register themselves as Mr. & Mrs, according to state law they are then legally married!’ These and many others, from smart-alecky ‘shady angels’; ‘lost faeries’; and ‘fighting Scots’ can all be found in this wonderful anthology . These stories and others from the other talented contributing authors of Kristi Ahlers, Cheryl Alldredge, Rekha Ambardar, susan Barclay, Patty Howell, Victoria Oliveri, Jacquie Rogers, Jennifer Ross, M. J. Sager, Michelle Scaplen, Kemberlee Shortland, Jeanne Van Arisdall, and Diane Davis White have combined to make this one unforgettable, funny and sensual delight. This book comes highly recommended!

Delightful Mix of Love and Silly Laws!, Feb 27 2006
This review is from: No Law Against Love (Mass Market Paperback)
No Law Against Love is a delihgtful anthology about love and some of the silly laws on the books. Sixteen writers and twentyfour different stories all revolving around a silly law and how that law brings a couple--or two or three couples-together. Each author picked her own silly law to write about, and some of the results are hilarious. Some bring a tear to the eye. Some of the stories are contemporary, some historical, some fantasy. All are wonderful. I can't wait for the next anthology, No Law Against Love II. As an added inducement, all the authors agreed to pass on their payment, donating their profits to fight breast cancer. What a wonderful gift!
