1.0 out of 5 stars Sucks, Feb 11 2001

This review is from: L.D. 50 : Mudvayne (Audio CD)
This is one of the worst CD's i've ever bought.

It .... maybe Dig is a cool song, i like it. But the rest sucks. If you like SlipKnot, you will not like this. SlipKnot is harder, faster, and has more style. The song Death Blooms sounds like the retarded version of (sic).

These guys.... They have no assurence. If you like Dig, you wont like this. Settle for Slipknot. Plus their are only 12 songs. 5 are fillers. This band wont be anywhere in a year.

If you want real metal, buy some

Slipknot Spineshank Taproot Nothingface Relative Ash & Deftones

If you already like any of those bands, dont get this.

Ladies and gentleman, this is ....

its horrible... dont get it

5.0 out of 5 stars L.D 50 (late review), Dec 20 2007
This review is from: L.D. 50 : Mudvayne (Audio CD)
Nu-Metal has been given a bad reputation throughout the year, with the likes of bands like Korn and Limp Bizkit.

When Mudvayne released LD 50, at the time they were big on face paint and masks, making them look like Slipknot wannabees. However, this music is better than Slipknot.

The bass player stands out the most, his jazz lessons paid off, he is very unpredictable in the album, which is good. 2nd place has to go to the drummer, he is above average.

The vocalist sounds like a mix between Pantera/Fear Factory which is actually cool, he can switch from gutteral roars to passionate singing in a second.

But the most interesting part? This is math metal. There are breaks between the songs, which talk about certain events, but the song structures are actually complex, for a nu-metal album it's something unexpectable.

So, should you try this out? Yes. If you can stand a few curse words, and not juding a band by it's looks, try it out.

5/5

4.0 out of 5 stars buy this! good deal, Nov 9 2004

This review is from: L.D. 50 : Mudvayne (Audio CD)
my favourite songs in ld 50 are: "internal primates forever", "-1", "death blooms", and "under my skin". maybe also "dig", its pretty crazy.

Here's a song-by-song review:
1. Monolith - It's ok, but all the filler tracks don't really have much in them. 5/10

2. Dig - One of the best songs on the album, very tight and aggressive. 9.5/10

3. Internal Primates Forever - One of my fave songs, has a kickass rhythm. Takes a while for you to get used to it, but after you've heard it a few times, you'll like it heaps. 10/10

4. -1 - Weird name, but an awesome song. Has great verses and a cool chorus. Doesn't drag on too long, which is a good thing, as you won't get bored of it. 10/10

5. Death Blooms - One of the only songs where Kud actually sings the chorus, as opposed to screaming and shouting (not that i don't like the screaming, it's great). A very good song. 9/10

6. Golden Ratio - Haven't heard it many times, i usually skip the fillers 3/10

7. Cradle - Lyrics are mad, and the the guitar work is way cool. 9/10

8. Nothing To Gein - It's ok, but not that great. 7/10

9. Mutatis Mutandis - (See "6. Golden Ratio") 3.5/10

10. Everything And Nothing - Awesome beat, great song. Not much with the lyrics though, especially in the chorus :P 9/10

11. Severed - Great chorus where they mix the singing with the screaming, creates a cool effect. The verses are pretty good too. 8.5/10

12. Recombinant Resurgence - Another filler 2/10

13. Prod - Mad guitar rhythm, and good overall song. Don't really like the chorus, because of the constant stops. 9/10

14. Pharmaecopia - Pretty weird at the beginning, but further into the song it gets better :) 7.5/10

15. Under My Skin - Awesome track, one of the best on the album. Fully sick guitar and vocals, and the rapping 2 minutes in is the BEST! 10/10

16. (K)now F(orever) - Cool song, but goes on for too long. I mean, 7:06! How can anyone listen to something that long? 8/10

17. Lethal Dosage - This filler actually isn't that bad, but it's not a very good way to end the album. 5.5/10

Overall, this is a great album to buy. It's worth every cent. You're missing out if you don't get it.
