Fun ballet,

The story may be a little wild, if not silly, but it is rather fun to watch. The production is rather colourful, and both the dancing and story are well done. Although I didn't know the story of this ballet before, I was able to follow it fairly well, though I was a little confused as to who some of the characters were at first. One thing that I really appreciated was that there was no bowing or curtseying in the middle of the performance. In many ballets, depending on the company, the artists tend to bow in between every solo, pas de deux, and variation, which slows down the story. It tries my patience, and I suddenly remember that I am watching a ballet, instead of getting caught up in the story. There was none of that here, so I could concentrate on the story, not roll my eyes at the "showing off."

I purchased this for a real ballet enthusiast and she was absolutely thrilled with this DVD. Loved the production (fabulous backdrops, costumes and dancing ability) and the quality of the DVD. Highly recommended!
