Functions OK. Good for pot au feu recipe. Was worried about the lid fit from the previous reviews. However, my pot has a good fitting lid (however does not achieve air tight vacuum when boiled). But there is big bit of enamel that is missing from the outside, near one of the handles. It is not a functional defect, but a blemish nonetheless.

HASH(0xa0d061b0) out of 5 stars Pretty pot, but not a great perfomer March 23 2006
By Sammy Madison - Published on Amazon.com
Size: 8 quartsColor: Red
There are a few things I like about this pot. You can get it in attractive colors to match you Le Creuset cookware. It lighter and easier to lift, and also cheaper than my "good" Le Creuset cast iron cookware. It is good for boiling pasta. It is not good for cooking anything that might stick or scorch! I am not a bad cook, but I keep having things stick in the bottom of this pan, which also wore quickly in spite of using gentle stirring implements. It is simply not a high-performance pan, but for just boiling things in water, it comes in handy, and you don't have to be embarrassed if you leave it sitting out, since it's pretty.

HASH(0xa0d064bc) out of 5 stars Red Pot for a Happy Kitchen March 7 2001
By Michela - Published on Amazon.com
Size: 8 quartsColor: Red
Compared to my favorite Calphalon Commercial Hard Anodized 8-Quart Stock Pot, the Le Creuset 8-Quart Stockpot is much lighter and easier to lift and carry when filled with liquid. This stockpot is not enamel-coated cast iron like the Le Creuset pots and pans, but the colors are identical. It heats up very quickly in comparison, too. Soups, stews, and stocks cook well in this pot because the lid is tight-fitting. I would like it for a second stock pot in this size. I like the Calphalon stock pots better because they all have pasta or steamer inserts.
The Le Creuset Red Pots are not the same cherry red like their famous heart-shaped 2-Quart Pan, but a slighter deeper shade.

HASH(0xa0d06630) out of 5 stars Chipped easily and had to throw it away warning!!!! NOT truly guaranteed!!!!! Nov. 14 2012
By MusicTech - Published on Amazon.com
Color: Blue
Bought two of these. Both had the enamel chip off. One of them wore through to the inside of the pot and I had to toss it. When I contacted Le Creuset they said I could send it back at MY expense and they would EVALUATE if it was my error or theirs. Sounded like a losing proposition to me as the cost of sending it back is almost half the cost of another pot. BEWARE.... and listen to the reviewers who say it chipped. BOTH of mine did. I am very annoyed about it...especially the way that customer service handled my complaint. I was VERY nice about it and told them I own just about every other type of cookware they have including the big iron pot that costs over $300; bakeware etc. They didn't seem to care. Don't buy these.

HASH(0xa0d06a08) out of 5 stars Easily holds four crabs or two lobsters Dec 27 2000
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
For those who love the freshest seafood, this is The Stockpot. We put in four large-ish crabs and had plenty of room; we later put in two medium-to-large lobsters with ease. There was plenty of water, so they were cooked quickly and mercifully. All those turkey bones would fit in fine for a lovely stock. The thing is pretty large, so consider where you're gonna store it, but when you need the room, this stockpot is the way to go.

HASH(0xa0d063c0) out of 5 stars An amazing stock pot April 5 2002
By D. A. Langdon - Published on Amazon.com
One of my most cherished possessions is my mom's 6 quart Le Creuset turquoise dutch oven that she got when she married my dad in 1952. When I needed a bigger pot, I went to Le Creuset, but was worried that the newer product would never equal the quality of the vintage stuff.
Boy, was I wrong. This pot is amazing! The quality is evident from the look and heft of the pot, and it's performance is equal to or better than my vintage pot. I'm no gourmet, but if you cook soups, stews or pasta for crowds, this one is for you.
