This is a great trip across close to 10 countries that a son and his father take - the father goes for his hadjj (pilgrimage to Mecca), one of the 5 pilars of islam. The son was born in France and is not a practicing mulsim, he does not understand his father, he wishes he did not have to drive his father to Saudi Arabia from southern France."The great trip" changes some of that. Through a few adventures and mishaps, they come to respect each other even if they do not always understand each other. It is clear that by the end of the trip, the son is very glad to have driven his father, for many reasons, although at the beginning he saw it as a family obligation for which he did not care. I saw this movie twice and I recommend seeing it more than once. The second time I noticed small things that I had missed initially, not knowing what was coming after. I liked the movie the first time, but I fell in love with this movie the second time I saw it. Beautiful movie.
