Format: Audio CD

Best French pop singer I've ever heard! Sept. 28 2009
By Israel Ibarra-davila - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
I wonder how come so very few people have heard of Daran outside of the French world. This guy can sing! His music is totally amazing too. I would recommend any CD by Daran to anyone with a good taste of music. Even if you don't know a word of French, the feeling, mood that this CD creates is enough to move you. Hadn't heard a CD with music so moving in so long. Any CD by Daran is amazing, but Le petit peuple du bitume is a really good start. Easy to listen songs. But their simplicity does not compromise the songs' feelings. It is amazing! I listen to Daran and Laith Al-deen (in German) all the time since I'm learning German and French... But like I said before, both artists are well worth listening and you'll get the songs even if you speak no French or German at all. Music is the universal language. It can move you regardless of the language. And Daran's music, especially this CD, have a powerful effect...
modern french rock at its finest March 9 2011
By STEFAN - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Since he started in 1992 with "J'Evite le Soleil", his debut album, Daran has been considered a promising artist, one that could mix many things, make them his own and get an interesting and entertaining result out of it.
After a strings of good albums that were sadly missing that little spark which makes an album special, Daran returned in 2007 with his 7th album and it's a delight from start to finish.
This time, Jean-Jacques Daran has managed to find the right balance between all the elements he usually uses: a big fat dose of rock and blues, a distinct love for french chanson that can easily be identified in his lyrics and a twist for clever and playful arrangements which makes the difference. And since the songs are better than they're ever been in his repertoire what you get is an album that is both modern and traditional, comfortable and surprising, and which, ultimately turns out to be the best thing Daran has ever released so far.
Now that the album is almost four years old and that I have had plenty of time to weight its merits, I can confidently say those looking for good modern rock that has a progressive feel yet isn't will not be disappointed and, with a drop of "frenchness" added to the mix, it's even more tasty.
One of the best albums released in France in 2007, no doubt about it.
