Product Description

Amazon.ca

The Ramones' second album captured their Concorde-age roar in higher-fi than their brilliant debut. Seemingly even faster and louder than Ramones, Leave Home was a leap forward upon release in early 1977 and remains one of the prime listening experiences in the band's catalog. In addition to frenzied bubble-punk anthems murderous ("Glad to See You Go," the Beatles nod "You're Gonna Kill That Girl") and blissful ("Oh Oh I Love Her So," which pays homage to the Shangri-Las and Burger King), the disc offers deeper ballads in the single "Swallow My Pride," "I Remember You" (revived by U2 on several 2000-2001 dates), and "What's Your Game." Not to mention ruminations on mental hygiene, geopolitics, and huffing (the mighty "Carbona Not Glue," restored in this edition to its rightful place in the sequence for the first time since the late '70s). Extras include the B-side/U.K. album track "Babysitter" and a full gig from the summer of '76. --Rickey Wright

Chronique amazon.fr

--Philippe Margotin

2.0 out of 5 stars reproduced, Jun 20 2004
By A Customer
This disc does not sound like the original record. It sounds slicker and prettier. It does not sound like the recording that shook the foundations of rock and roll. It hasn't been "remastered"; it has been "reproduced". As such, most of its original vision and power is lost.

A shame because I've waited for years for the first four Ramones albums to come out on CD with their original artwork. This has the original artwork, but not the original sound.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stay home and listen to this, May 5 2004

I have always loved The Ramones covers of old pop tunes. They have a sort of irreverence but also an admiration for the classics. "Needles and Pins" and "Do You Wanna Dance?" come immediately to mind. LEAVE HOME contains my favorite cover, "California Sun". But it also contains some of my favorite original Ramones' classics: "Glad to See You Go", "Commando", and "Suzy Is a Headbanger" are truly powerful and giddy with energy. And for those reasons alone, LEAVE HOME is the uncontested best of the early Ramones output.
