More led poisoning, verse four,

...same as the third...and second...and first, ad nauseam, ad infinitum. Hey, when your only fourth best, fourth rate music is all one can expect - and here they succeeded. Not recommended.

I have something to say about this album...finally...,

About a year and a half ago, I wrote a review on this album. I said, "Please, for the love of God, someone cut out Robert Plant's vocal chords." My point of view has changed somewhat over the course of a year in a half. I have gained an appreciation for Plant's vocals. In fact, I like all of Led Zeppelin's albums from I to Physical Graffiti (except for IV). Obviously, this is an overrated album, but what it really comes down to is that Led Zeppelin is an overrated band in general. I'm not saying that I don't like their music. People keep talking about this band like they are some great wonderful anomaly of music. I mean, come on, they were a rock band not an art rock band. As far as the album goes, there is some decent material here. "Stairway to Heaven" is quite good, but at the same time, it too is overrated. It is a good song, maybe even a great song, or maybe even Led Zeppelin's greatest song, but the title of "Best Rock Song Of All Time" is not one that should be used freely and taken lightly. I happen to like the song a great deal, but there are songs from the 90's (and even the 80's, god forbid) that I would have to put in front of it. As far as the album goes, a lot of the songs here are just plain weak. Perhaps some of them are mildly catchy, but songs like "Misty Mountain Hop" and "Four Sticks" are just irritating. What really kills this album is the production. "Black Dog" is a pretty good rock song, but Jim Page's guitar sounds so bad on this song that I tend never to listen to it. What it comes right down to is that, when compared to Led Zeppelin's more "artistic" works, this is really nothing more than a collection of pop songs ("Stairway to Heaven" being the exception). I don't hate this album, but on the other hand I can't honestly say that I would recommend it to anyone who is remotely serious about music.

Are you...,

Ok first off I'm not a Zeppelin hater, Zeppelin 2 is one of my favorite albums of all time, and I think everyone should own it. I also love the work they did after this album with Houses of the Holy and Physical Graffiti. But this album is so bad it makes me sick. The people who wrote these reviews giving this album 5 stars are either... or totally consumed with the image brought on by the name of the band. Not everything this band recorded was good, no matter what their millions of worshipers say. And nothing proves that point more than listening to this album. So if you're looking for a Zeppelin album I suggest buying either Houses of the Holy or Led Zeppelin 2. But no matter what you do leave this piece of trash on the shelf because trust me you will be disappointed.
