I liked this book. It covered subjects from flowers to portraits. Hammond gives a multitude of ideas for painting difficult subjects. The basics for setting up a painting are especially useful. Subjects, such as over painting are of particular interest to me.

A good starter book Jan. 18 2012
By Jerry L. Sullivan - Published on Amazon.com

I like all of Lee Hammond's books. They are laid out very well and do a good job explaining techniques. It's very good to get you started, but I found information in other places after reading her book, that I wish had been included...such as do you underpaint or not and why. But it's a good starting point to learn acrylic.
