Product Description

The legend of King Arthur and Camelot has become so popular over the ages that its archetypal characters and stories interact with the conscious and subconscious on the deepest levels. The Tarot, a powerful spiritual and divinatory tool, also works with the subconscious and conscious minds. It was only natural that the two should be combined. That is exactly what Anna-Marie Ferguson has done with her beautiful deck, "Legend: The Arthurian Tarot.
"The cards are meticulously painted in beautiful watercolor and framed by Celtic knotwork with jewels. The deck follows the traditional Tarot structure of 22 Major Arcana cards and 56 Minor Arcana cards. The traditional Tarot card name, such as the Seven of Swords, appears at the top of the card, while the Arthurian scene depicted (in this case the Sword in the Stone) appears at the bottom. The beauty of these designs will thrill you with their depth and add new layers of meaning and interpretation to your Tarot readings.
Included is a 72-page booklet which describes the mythic image on each card along with the divinatory meanings. The Horned One (formerly The Devil) is here named Cernunnos. You will learn who this deity is and his history. The Universe becomes The Giant's Dance, which relates to the mythic construction of Stonehenge. The Three of Swords is Palomides, the Saracen Knight who laments for his lost love, Isolt. The Nine of Cups is the Healing of the Maimed King, which describes how the Wasteland is renewed with the healing of its King on the sacred isle of Avalon. The booklet also includes instructions for two spreads.
If you work with the Tarot, you will find that the myths illustrated on these cards will allow you to glean new interpretations and ideas from the cards. If you collect Tarot decks, the beauty and meaning of this deck will make you want to add this deck to your collection. If you love the Arthurian myths, you will want this deck for its beautiful depictions of the events in the Arthurian legends. And if you want to learn the legends of Camelot, these cards can even function as "flash cards," allowing you to easily learn and recall the adventures of the Arthurian knights. Let this deck, with its exquisitely rendered water color paintings, draw you into a compelling world of characters, places, and tales from all four branches of the ancient Arthurian legend.

As a collector of tarot decks and an avid student of the Tarot, i must say that this deck is my favourite hands down! with my other decks, i often have a hard time unleashing my creativity and intuition, but with this deck it all flows quite naturally. I love everything about this deck - the way the cards feel in my hands, the design on the backs of the cards and the beautiful pictures on the cards. each card tells a story. This deck really emphasizes the beauty of nature. i dont not know much about the Arthurian legends, but this deck has inspired me to delve into them. I highly recommend this deck!

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite and most-used deck!, Jun 11 2006
By Shonna Gariepy "Shonna" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Legend Tarot Deck: The Arthurian Tarot (Cards)
I have read tarot for 23 years, and this is the deck that I use the most. The thing about finding a deck to read with is that you have to find one that speaks to you - one that has images and symbols that resonate with you. As a lifelong lover of the Arthurian Traditions, I have gravitated to all things Arthurian from books to films right down to Tarot decks. I have several that are Celtic/Arthurian but this one has more depth than most. Yes, there's a dark side, but how else are you to balance the light? If you read with an unbalanced deck how can your readings be anything BUT unbalanced? One-sided? These cards are pen/ink and watercolor and even I think a bit of airbrush from time to time - the images take you deeper into Arthurian legend to some of the more obscure legends and lessons within those legends. You don't JUST get to see Gawain and the Green Knight but you get to meet Ragnell and so many others - you get to see through the symbols and colors that blend so well something deeper than simple pentacles or coins/rods or wands/swords/cups or grails......you find the meaning that goes so much deeper and into the crux of the questioner's questions and/or issues at hand. If your love is Arthurian Tradition and you're drawn to such things, this is an amazing deck to use - but it's NOT for beginners.

5.0 out of 5 stars Guidance from Camelot, July 25 2007
By Neal Szpatura - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Legend Tarot Deck: The Arthurian Tarot (Cards)
One of my earliest Tarot teachers always emphasized that it's not enough to just memorize the "definitions" of each card ~ it's important to explore what you SEE in each card each time. This deck is fabulous for that kind of intuitive reading style.

While the accompanying book is wonderful and thorough in the Tarot definitions and Arthurian legend background that are provided, the cards themselves open up into cinematic scenes that offer insight and guidance that shift with each throw. The deck shimmers with life and with wisdom. It became my favorite the first time I used it.
