Note: I edited my "fun" star rating to 3 but it doesn't seem to save that... so... ignore the 4.

I was really looking forward to some LEGO action on my PS Vita, but this game is really gimped. I don't know why the Vita was given a handheld version, based on weaker hardware when this system is capable of PS3 games. Granted, not perfectly, it could have easily gotten a slightly toned down console game instead of a completely different handheld version that's much worse than the console counterpart.

For instance, within the first 10 minutes. You'll miss out on gameplay that's in the console versions. (flying on your broom) Instead, you just get a cutscene skipping that entire gameplay section.

The cutscenes are VERY blurry and given how beautiful the OLED screen is, it's a real shame. The game's levels are also different from the console version. Much less detail, different locations for some things and in general just less of everything. And the sounds are extremely terrible. Collecting the little 'coins' has never sounded so annoying. (this is my first portable LEGO game, didn't bother me in console versions. Even from last generation)

The difference I'm seeing (watching a walkthrough on YouTube) versus what I have played is staggering. I really regret purchasing this version. Unless you're looking forward to getting trophies while still being portable, I would suggest simply buying another version. Even the touch 'features' in the game aren't that great.

The PS Vita deserved a better version of this game, because it is more than capable of handling it. Here's hoping that LEGO Batman 2 (edit; it didn't) and LEGO Lord of the Rings turn out better for Vita owners.

The game is still fun, but it's a fraction of what I could have been playing if I just bought it on my PS3. Which makes me really not want to play it at all.

Good game and good price. My son loves lego and he's very happy with this game. Would recommend it to other parents.

Poor port from PSP to PSV March 9 2012

Game looks and plays like a PSP game on Vita. Lego games never had the reputation for good graphics.. but this one is terrible. Especially when they are charging a premium price for it. It should have been priced the same as PSP titles for what they have done. Simply download the PSP version from PSN and play it.. there is no real advantage in buying this at this price.

Game play's as good as it does on a PSP. Buy it when the price drops below twenty. I just wish the developer had done a decent job of porting the console version down to Vita.

The best "Handheld" version May 14 2012
By Zeemmarax - Published on

The vita version is a port of the psp version, I wish they would have based it off the console versions. The story is also hard to follow if you are not a Harry potter fan, but if you are not you most likely wouldnt be interested in the game anyway.

-Great music
-Fun for all Ages
-Lego Charm

-Same old(still fun)gameplay
-Clunky story to follow
-Blurry cinematics

Could Be Better July 19 2013

If you played any Lego game you know they are all the same great gameplay consisting of solving simple puzzles and beating foes. The issue is with the Vita version as its the DS version. This is a horrible because you can't take advantage of the Vitas capabilities. This is the most powerful handheld and the games are being copied and pasted this needs to stop. You should make dedicated games for each system because essentially all Lego games are the same (mechanics, function)so not much money goes into producing the same game over and over. If you put forth effort I would gladly pay more.
Still a fun game even though old July 7 2013

I wanted some sort of lego game for my Vita and didn't know where to start. So many reviews about the games simply being ports from the PS3 or Nintendo and being awful. The game works great with the Vita, I have no complaints at all with it's function or ability. The game-play is full of fun puzzles to solve, stories, adventures, items to find etc. The only gripe I have which other reviewers have mentioned are the cut scenes being blurry and poor rendering; but the truth is, that's all they are, cut scenes, and if you know the movies then you don't need to watch. It doesn't affect the game itself and the graphics during game-play are excellent. Anyone who enjoys these kind of adventure games will love this game whether or not you like Harry Potter. I bought the Lego Batman game along with this one to play once I finish it. I paid $29 for both through Amazon or fulfillment by Amazon. I believe separate Harry Potter cost ~$12 but you don't get super saver shipping, must be $25 or more. Hope this helps some people.

okay i will start off by saying that this game isn't that good of a port, the graphics don't look very impressive or anything, but they do look better and improved over the Nintendo version,as far as game play goes,if you have played previous Lego games you know what to expect, currently the game is 16 dollars, and for that price i have no problem recommending this game if you just want to relax and try something a little different than what you usually play,if you like the other Lego games you will like this one, though its not the best Lego game,it still has some good content to offer, also if you are a trophy hunter you will have a good time, the trophies in this game are not very hard to obtain at all :)
