Book provides information on various cars/trucks/minivans/SUVs. Layout of the book is good and it is generally easy to follow. Technical details should be put into tables to allow comparison between vehicles. I prefer the consumer reports format - less text and easy to use visuals.

Most of the language used in the book is of a critical nature and there are very few positive comments provided. As you read the book you come to the conclusion that there is not a single decently made vehicle. You should balance the very negative reviews in the book against other avenues of information like consumer reports and first hand discussions with actual owners. As an example the Ford F150 and Chevy Silverado are regarded as compete junk in the book; however when I ask my friends about their trucks they think they are great.

I'd recommend borrowing a copy from the Library rather than purchasing.

I agree with the previous review. The advice in these books is very negative and needs to be taken with a grain of salt. They are informative, but not fool proof. Unless you have actually owned all of these vehicles there is no way to be 100% subjective. Phil does his best with the information he receives, but there is no way for him to be acurate on every review.

I used to own a '98 Nissan Altima which when I bought the car it was only rated as 'average'. This rating was later changed to 'above average' once more data had been collected. This was the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned and if I only went by the review Phil gave it in his book I probably would not have bought the vehicle.

Once again, these books provide a lot of information, but they are in no way the last word on what you should and should not buy.

Product was rehash of old books. Didnt include any japanese pickup trucks very poor. A lot of essential cars were missing. Other cars were down graded after being highly recomended in previous issues.

Very usefull book. I am bying my 3rd car based on the recommendations and am very happy. The reson I am changing cars is that I am on the road a lot and reaching high milage.
