I'm driving a pair of Sony SS-B3000s with this little amp and I'm very happy with the results. Tests around the internet show that the amp maintains very good levels of harmonic distortion up to about the 5-10 watt per channel range (this improves quite a bit with 4 ohm speakers), so don't expect high fidelity with this thing cranked. But for home listening at relatively low power, it's sounds fantastic. And for $20, you can't knock it. The bass is solid, treble is clear, mids are strong.

On a side note, when talking about sound, 5-10 watts is quite a lot. Perceived volume is a logarithmic function of power. Almost no home system had over 10 watts of usable volume until the 80s and it often came along with a loss of fidelity at lower volumes. Especially when it got ridiculous in the 90s with 500 watt home systems. The funny thing was that people still didn't use more than about 5 watts, even with their music "loud". And most home systems still sound terrible at full volume.

I'd put this up against most home receivers from the 90s in a heartbeat for fidelity in the first 7 or 8 watts, which is all I ever use. It's just unbelievable for its price and size.

I hooked up this mini amp to two satellite speakers (Energy Take Classic). The input was either from a karaoke machine or from a wireless microphone. Also tested with output from my laptop. The sound is amazingly great for a mini amp. The MP3 (3.5 mm stereo) input is very convenient to hook up laptops or other portable audio devices. The Direct/Tone control is also very useful (though I use the Direct mode predominantly). The blue LED lighting around the volume control knob is pleasing to the eyes. Overall, I am happy with the purchase.

I've had the Lepai 20W stereo amp for a few weeks. I'm using it with the provided power adaptor (110V mains to 12V @ 2A) which is a small, light SMPS unit that plugs into the wall. You also have the option to connect a 12V battery power supply if you want something portable for travelling, camping, picnics, a busking amp, etc. A rechargeable 12 sealed lead acid (SLA) battery (burglar alarm/emergency lighting battery) would be ideal but remember that you can't take SLA batteries on planes or through security checks.

I have it plugged into a pair of small, low quality bookshelf loudspeakers so I can't really comment on the sound quality. The tone controls (bass and treble) make a noticeable difference and I think have a sufficient range for what you'd expect from a small cheap amp, plus there's a bypass switch. The case and controls have solid construction and I think the unit would survive a few knocks and drops - important if you intend to travel with it or use it for busking. I haven't tested it but I expect the 2A power supply is easily enough to get a full 20W out of the amp without distortion or losing bass response, however, that doesn't mean it wouldn't overheat if played at full volume for long periods of time. It's easily serviceable but, for the price, it's probably cheaper and easier to buy a new one if anything goes wrong with it.

Overall, I'd say it's a bargain at the price, robust and flexible, a decent quality... ...and no, I wasn't paid to write this review! I genuinely like it.

I love this amp for the price. I really don't have to baby it and it proved its worth in the first week of owning it. I took it with me camping, hooked it up to some Polk M10 bookshelf speakers (88dB/1W/1m) I had lying around and it played loud-enough to fill the area with ambient music (about 1 acre of open grass), while still staying clean. The direct/EQ switch is very important as the EQ does remove some overhead from the available volume. However, now that I have it indoors and connected to a couple of old home-theatre satellites, that switch allows me to get some bass out of otherwise piddley speaks.

I have not tried hooking-up a 12v 4-amp AC/DC converter to it, just the 2a one that came with it. I do intend to try it but that's the only mod I would do. If I needed more wattage I would probably ship in the Dayton DTA-100a and save myself the weekend of solder burns and tears.

TL;DR = The only amp you need until you want to spend over $100.

This is a fantastic mini amplifier if you understand and accept its limitations. I used this with some 4 ohm alnico vintage speakers and generic bookshelf speakers (both 20W) and the sound was great even with the volume cranked. You could start to hear the distortion with the volume 3/4 turned up, but at that point it was louder than I would ever want it anyways. I compared it with my other full sized amps and the sound is decent. However, with a RMS of 20W/channel, you're obviously not going to power your 100W+ modern day speakers with it. Right off the bat forget it.

Compact, great for smaller speakers, little background noise, and no static as I use the volume knob. Can't go wrong for 25$!

The quality of the LP-2020A+ is surprisingly good. I hooked it up to a pair of good bookshelf speakers and it works well from my iphone itunes at 192kbps over the analogue wire. Is it as good as a 500$ or 2000$ amp ? less full, so no. Is it well worth the price and surpasses most peoples' needs ? yes, i was surprised at the sound. Is it loud ? loud enough to cover a few rooms at moderate intensity. A good purchase for my needs which was to drive a few very good speakers with fairly reasonable quality with a very low cost, small size (it's super light too), and with good enough quality.
