Blues of yore was often littered with double-entendres so it really isn't too hard to put together a Rude Blues Collection. This sure ain't the only one but it's a good one. Sometimes here the title of the song is the most risque it gets and some are quite tame. If you enjoy older blues, regardless of the sexual references then this double disc of 49 tracks is a field day. This can be played in mixed morality groups with little fear of offending anyone. To offend and to hear raunchier tunes go out and buy (well online that is)"Raunchy Rock & Roll". It has 25 tracks by artists whom are mostly 40s & 50s R&B. On the disc under review you'll find titles like "How You Want It Done" (Big Bill Broonzy) but on Raunchy R&R they get right to it with titles like "Did He Eat Your Titty" (Perversions). Tamer here but the tunesmith quality is much greater. As stated, this set can be listened to wherever you are and there are some household blues artists on these discs: Blind Boy Fuller, Wynonie Harris, Lightnin' Hopkins, Bessie Smith and the aforementioned Broozny for example. Good stuff

This is a wonderful collection of naughty blues, and the audio quality is EXCELLENT, considering the source material they had to work with. But: Inquiring minds want to know at least a little background on the artist, the tune, or at least, the year in which it was recorded. All I got was an ad for a T-Shirt. You'll be loving this collection, but you'll be Googling all the way! Highly recommended!

I know these are old recording that were most likely made with home recording units. The vocals are lost behind the background noise. I would have liked to have seen these digitally remastered (we have the technology) and then released. Yes, the quality would still sound like an old recording (that is expected) but now you could at least appreciate the piano riffs, bass runs and most importantly make out what the signer is signing. Disappointed.
