Product Description

Product Description

Bullied and lonely, Oskar is a timid 12 year old boy whose dream for a friend finally comes true when Eli moves in next door. The strange young girl is ghostly pale, only comes out at night and is unaffected by freezing temperatures. Coinciding with Eli's arrival is a series of inexplicable disappearances and murders that cause Oskar's inquisitive mind to race. Caught between the innocence of childhood romance and the truth of Eli's identity, this darkly atmospheric tale is also an unexpectedly tender tableau of adolescence.

For those wondering what is in this limited edition, here is what is written at the back of the DVD case.

Special: Behind the Scenes, Deleted Scenes, Photo Gallery
Features: Poster Gallery, THEATRICAL ENGLISH SUBTITLES (anglais seulement)

The front of the case has: Limited Edition, Let The Right One In, (Version Francaise)

I have not opened or viewed the DVD yet, but I think the most important thing is the fact that this edition has the correct THEATRICAL ENGLISH SUBTITLES.

I pre ordered this when I first heard about it a few months back and had high hopes that there was maybe another behind the scenes clip or some additional deleted scenes, but sadly there is nothing new on this disk. You can buy the U.S. version on Blu-Ray that has everything this "Limited Edition" has for half the price and you will get better video and audio quality, not to mention the subtitle problem has been fixed on the U.S. version, so no worries there.

A great movie such as this deserved so much more than an updated cover and admittedly a cool picture of Eli on the inside cover, and then slapping "Limited Edition" on the cover to fool people into thinking that there is going to be something extra on this DVD that isn't on any other version out there. The Bozos from Magnolia Pictures must have there hands in on this.

If you really want the best version out there, then you will need to buy the Blu-Ray version from the UK (it is not region locked). It actually does have a very interesting feature with the commentary from the author of the book and screenplay together with the director of the film. If you understand Swedish, I would recommend the original Swedish release which has an audio commentary also.

I enjoyed this movie - I have also read the novel and believe it is a good representation of the book. Of course it is not identical, but you get that with most novel-to-movie depictions. The interaction of the main character with the vampire is interesting and their friendship is relateable. If you enjoy vampire lore, I imagine you would enjoy the movie and the novel, and if you are not a vampire "fan," there is more to this story. It is not typical in any sense of the word.
