Introducing the Astra baby video monitor, Levana’s latest big star. With a 3.5” screen, whisper quiet pan/tilt/zoom (PTZ) image control and soothing Talk to Baby intercom you will always feel close to your baby no matter what your day brings. The hefty battery life lasts up to 48 hours in power save mode so you can rely on Astra to keep going strong, long after you and your baby have said “good night”. Discover the freedom of doing more and seeing more with a little help from Astra.
Smooth and silent pan/tilt/zoom camera control
Using the monitor from anywhere in your home you can adjust the camera view horizontally 300° and tilt vertically 110°. That’s more range than a human head and neck! And when you find what you are looking for you can zoom in to verify what you are seeing in even greater detail. This smooth, silent adjustable camera gives you powers that are out of this world and will be a handy secret weapon as your little one becomes even more mobile and curious.
48 hour battery life in PEEP mode
PEEP (Power-on/off Energy Efficient Picture) sets your monitor and your camera to “sleep” when there is no sound in the nursery saving hours of valuable battery life. The second your baby makes a “peep”, the camera and the monitor will activate so you can see and hear exactly what is going on.
Talk to Baby two-way communication
Ease your child’s worries with the sound of your voice before you even enter the room Astra brings peace of mind to babies as well as parents. It also works as a helpful tool for asking your partner to come and give you a hand. Whether you are with the baby or across the house, you’ll no longer need to yell to ask for help.

When I had my first daughter, I got the Levana Babyview for a gift. At the time it was the best thing since sliced bread & having no other experience with monitors I was amazed with it. It lasted almost 2 years then quit unexpectedly. We didn't really need it any more so we weren't too worried about fixing it. One year later, pregnant with my second, we started testing out more monitors. We went through three or four before coming back to Levana.
It was the Levana Safe & See we decided on getting. At the time it was great, even better than the baby view we previously had. The battery life wasn't great, but I figured I could settle with one flaw. Then after 10 months it gave us troubles. A little disappointed, I contacted Levana and after a bit of a ordeal, sending and not having a monitor for almost a month, Levana sent us the Astra.
This monitor is perfect! The battery life is 100xs what the safe and see battery was. The colour screen is huge and I am LOVING the pan and tilt modes that I never had before.
If you are new to monitors, this is the list of criteria that we went by,
-Has to have a sleep mode (basically off but when the baby makes a sound, it turns on and you can see and hear everything) Not all monitors have this and I cannot sleep with the constant white noise of some monitors OR the breathing of my baby. Might as well have the baby in the same room then.
-Adjustable noise settings. Depending where you install the camera, you'll need to adjust how much sound you want the monitor to pick up. We had one monitor that was on its highest settings and it didn't pick up my screaming 2 year old in her bed. Took that one back asap.
-Has to be able to be used in my back yard.Read more ›
I am on my 3rd monitor in 2 years. The first time the antenna had come loose and was hanging off the unit - levana replaced it and sent another unit. The unit they sent was defective - there were lines through the screen. The third unit, a refurbIshed one sent a year ago, the antenna has again come loose and the signal has been impacted severely because of it (the unit has a poor signal over 2 floors and 1 wall as it is).
After speaking with Levana to request replacement they claim the antenna the first time was physical damage and the 2nd unit sent back had a cracked screen. We certainly did not send it back with a cracked screen! After TWO faulty antennas the monitor clearly has some faults that have not/are not being addressed and are not covered under the warranty. I was sent this link: http://mylevana.com/Policies.eng.html to refer to basically stating that "mechanical wear and tear are not covered" what happened to QUALITY products? An antenna shouldn't be falling off after 1 year of use - what is the point in having one if a) it's going to come apart and b) it isn't covered under their manufacturer defects policy?
Overall, my experience with this product has been poor as has my experience with their customer service. We went 3 weeks without a monitor a year ago as someone forgot to send out a replacement.
The image quality overall is not the best - there are two levels of zoom which are fine but the images are slightly distorted. The audio quality is poor. The coloured light indicator has not worked on my refurbished unit since I received it. THE ANTENNA IS FAULTY if you can avoid using it do so - maybe it will extend the life of it. I wish I had done more research on the product prior to purchasing it. I will be giving summer infant my business going forward.
The camera moves left & right, up & down and has night vision. The monitor is great quality, has a large viewing screen and you can see babe clearly. The monitor also has a hibernation mode but is noise/motion activated which I think is a great feature. The blue light on the monitor is bright, although it is really not any brighter than a nightlight so it's really not that distracting nor prohibits sleep. I actually think it would be helpful if the other buttons had some sort of light feature so that you could see them in the dark when turning on the monitor.
The microphone feature is a bit useless (as in we never use it!) and does seem to be quite loud and distorted. I know some of the other reviews mention that it is easy to accidentally turn on the music when fumbling with the monitor in the dark, although I believe this would be difficult as you have to press multiple buttons and you can view a menu onscreen.
All in all, this is a great camera/monitor set that we love and would definitely recommend to others!
