5.0 out of 5 stars Odd Switch Plate - Why Would Anyone Buy One? Dec 22 2011
By Courtney S. Putnam - Published on Amazon.com

For several years, I have been trying to get my 13 year old daughter to run the fan in the bathroom during certain tasks (i.e. shower, bath, uh and you-know-what). For some reason, the neurons that should help her remember to turn on the fan have repeatedly failed to fire. As a result, I decided to add a humidity sensor to the fan so that it would come on automatically. Well, after much research, I determined that humidity sensors were way too unreliable to be used effectively...plus they can't detect methane. My final determination and the ultimate solution to my dilemma was to wire the fans electrical wires directly to the light switch (please use a licensed electrician - as I did - to do this work). Now, when the light is turned on, the fan comes on too. My daughter was a bit perplexed at this, at first, and it took some getting used to. Now, humidity and many other things are controlled and nobody has to give it a second thought. The switch plate looks good, keeps out moisture and is made of a Bakelite type material. The first unit I received was cracked but the seller, immediately shipped out a replacement which was packed MUCH BETTER than the first. Product and seller are both winners here. I certainly recommend this product to anyone wanting to combine two switches into one and covering that second switch blank. Oh...just go ahead and try to find one of these things at your local hardware store; probably not going to happen. Save yourself the gas and get it from Amazon.com.
1.0 out of 5 stars These crack VERY easily! April 8 2014

I have replaced these now about 3 times, as they crack VERY easily. I encourage everyone to select another brand of wallplate.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good thick plate, often hard to find. April 4 2014
By Mark's Amazon - Published on Amazon.com
Apparently Leviton makes a few or more similar layout plates with different part numbers and prices so, your best bet would be to follow the other reviewer's lead and check the Leviton website.

I could not find any "2-Gang 1-Toggle 1-Blank Device Combination Wallplate" locally until after I purchased it on Amazon. Each model is a different price but on Amazon they are all over-priced from around $4 to $8 as of 4-2014. The 88006 I purchased locally was a $1.19 and it is thick and does not bend but, basically it's the same as the 88106 and 80506.

The 88006 says it is made in the USA, but says something else in Spanish about Mexico. The only thing wrong with the 88006 is the cutouts are not molded or trimmed nice and clean as the 80506, 80706 and others I have used, but will do fine and could be trimmed easily with a razor blade. The non-symmetrical screw layout looks odd so I recommend the 80706 or other similar thicker model with symmetrical screw pattern.

The 80506-W 2-Gang 1-Toggle 1-Blank, Midway Size, Box Mount
measures 4-7/8in x 4-7/8in.

The 80706 and 88006 measure 4-1/2in x 4-1/2in.

I'm not sure of the exact size of the 88106 but, the specs say about 5-1/2in x 5-1/2in.

I was tired of seeing the large whole on half of the light switch. This covers it perfectly - pretty simple product though.
3.0 out of 5 stars Hard to find double with blank. March 9 2014

I was very happy to find this on Amazon because I couldn't find anything to work locally. It might have just been that my husband tried to screw it in too tight, but it ended up cracking. It is thin so you have to be very careful with it.
