Password protect your data
JumpDrive Secure Version 2.0 is the security software that comes pre-loaded on the JumpDrive Secure allowing you to password protect files stored on the JumpDrive itself. The security software enables you to divide your JumpDrive into two different areas, or zones. The public zone has no password protection and is accessible by anyone using your JumpDrive. The private zone is password-protected so no one can open, copy or write files to it without entering the correct password. With 256-AES encryption we go one step further than just password protecting your data, we also encrypt it.

Totally unreliable, Nov 5 2004

I bought this less than a month ago, handled it carefully, and always used the "Safely Remove Hardware" feature of Windows.The drive worked for two weeks, then stopped working. I paid to return it, waited two weeks, and got a new one. The new one lasted only one week. Lexar will not do anything beyond replacing it again.
This product is far inferior to others on the market, such as PNY (and even Lexar's older Jumpdrive models). Stay away if you value your data (and productivity).

I absolutely love my JumpDrive. I'll never need a floppy disk again. I use it to store just about everything I'm currently working on so I can access my files no matter where I am - home, work or anywhere there's a computer.I only have two complaints. For some reason, the cap fits better in one direction than the other, but there's no way to tell by looking. And it's inevitable that I'll lose the cap one day.
On the positive side, it seems very sturdy. I like that the keychain ring is metal instead of plastic. I've pretty much abused it by throwing it in my purse, pockets, and laptop bag. It still works like a charm. It's easy to use and transfers files quickly.

Two months after receiving this as a Christmas gift (on my recommendation...I like Lexar products), somehow all of the data on the Jump Drive disappeared. Ok, malfunctions happen, but a quick web search revealed many such 'malfunctions'.Customer service was ok, we worked thru the problem and identified the malfunction. I sent it in and they are sending me a JD Sport instead...which is not as wide and will fit in the USB slots at work with no problem.
