Oh-so-suave blond Jack Hofner and ruder, cruder Rowe Rickebacker are the L/R team, ace secret agents working for the Royal Family of Ishtar (a thinly disguised Great Britain). With some help from eccentric inventor Dez and the inevitably feisty Claire, they continually try the patience of chief security agent Camille. Like all good anime agents, they overstep their boundaries, run up bills someone else has to pay, employ an endless array of hi-tech gadgets, and assume foolproof disguises. Jack and Rowe have a certain rhinestone-in-the-rough appeal, but the series has a been-there/done-that feeling. Their adventures involving stolen antiquities, crime syndicates, and the mysterious figure of the "15 year Princess" lack both the noir drama of
Cowboy Bebop and the take-no-prisoners silliness of
Dai-Guard and the
Patlabor series.
Licensed by Royalty is mildly diverting at times, but never distinctive. (Rated 16 and older: violence, alcohol and tobacco use)

Description
TWICE THE AGENTS, TWICE THE ACTION AND TWICE THE FUN!
The royal family often has "special" jobs that require intervention and can't be directly linked to the government. For these impossible missions, they often call upon their most trusted agents in the private sector: Cloud7. No job is too big, no danger too great, and no fiend is too difficult for them to handle with their customary style and wit! They are sometimes known as "L/R" - Licensed by Royalty, but they will never admit which one is "L" and which is "R"...
