Disappointing..., Nov 30 2011
This review is from: Lie to Me: Season 3 (DVD)
At only half a season (13 episodes, same as season one), it's rather disappointing that this DVD set returned to having only the one "bonus feature" (one very short "interview" of sorts with the man who plays Dr. Lightman) and lukewarm "deleted scenes" (not as pointless as those in season one, but certainly not like those from season two which I would have enjoyed seeing as part of "extended" episodes). The episode titles are still inside the covers (though not covered like they were in season two), and all bonus features are on the final disk, once again increasing the time between viewing of the earlier episodes and their associated bonus material. There are two new cast members introduced in the first episode which barely play a part in the series, and one introduced midway who is only properly used in the final episode. Emily's last boyfriend is amusing, but I dislike what they did with Emily during this season. The final episode was also the best episode and the others were not impressive (not acceptable in a third season, especially when the second was done so well). I get the impression that they put everything into the final episode as a last ditch effort to save the show, but I don't understand why they didn't do that for the season as a whole... (And to top it all off, there were commercials on two of the disks again.)

Not as good as the first two seasons......., Jan 4 2012
This review is from: Lie to Me: Season 3 (DVD)
The first two seasons were reasonably well written, with some insight shown as to 'what lies look like'. This season shows Roth's character as mean, lacking in any investigative skill, only being the bad cop, and lots of instances where the character makes 'leaps of investigative imagination' rather than showing where the subject was lying.....just another 'mean guy who is an investigator show' now, completely lacking in the area of interest that brought so many viewers to this show....ie, how people lie.......

I'm sad, and that's the truth..., Dec 20 2011
This review is from: Lie to Me: Season 3 (DVD)
What I felt, watching the last episode of this incredible series, was sadness. I grew very fond of Dr Cal Lightman and his associates, and was saddened to learn season 3 was the last one. I discovered this series while purchasing The Mentalist, and so I did some research, and bought the first season. I felt season 3 went deeper into Cal's behavior, his relationships, his attitude, and I felt Dr Foster became the strong partner Cal needed from the get-go. Cal's daughter, Emily, shows us what kind of strong minded person a mix of Cal and Zoe can produce, and it was simply delightful seing her grow into this mature young woman, often much, much more mature than her father. I will miss this show...
