A Life in Balance:Discovery of a Learning Breakthrough Sept. 23 2011
By SpiderAttack - Published on Amazon.com

The book explains the humble but profound research of a physical device (Balancing Board) that helps the vestibular system, which contributes to balance. The vestibular system as the theory goes helps us integrate basic overall processing of information. The interesting point about the technology is that it has a broad spectrum of effects and helps not only learning disadvantaged children but highly functional people who want to improve their lives. The simple technology does require a 4-hour commitment a week (physical activity on the board) and Dr. Belgau balance board. The book about the technology does not make any bold claims and these are simply my observations.

After reading the book I looked further into the technology. The results are noticeable with adults and children using my board. Vision, Reading, Writing and communication skills have been greatly enhanced. Several of my friends have noticed other benefits which are very helpful. The additional benefits include increased confidence and calming effects in children and adults. The calming effect can be recreated simply by standing (properly) on the board for 5 minutes with your eyes closed.

An Amazing Story Dec 30 2010
By Economic Indicator - Published on Amazon.com

This is a story that really needed to be told.

I had been encountering more and more information about how the brain is able to heal itself through movement and so I bought this book to try to learn what Mr. Belgau had found.

He has done some amazing things with kids and I've noticed a little difference when trying to do some of the exercises that were mentioned in this book (please note, if you want to be able to do the whole official program you will need to buy the kit from Mr. Belgau)

My most overwhelming response to the story in this book is anger. Not at Mr. Belgau but at our so-called education system. I've seen much of the suffering and struggles that people have been going through first hand because educational officialdom turned away from this. This was discovered decades ago! Shame on you to the people that shut Mr. Belgau down! Shame on you to the people who could be helping the next generations! (attitudes still haven't changed, I was recently 'informed' by one of our certified educational 'experts' that the brain doesn't change--she obviously hasn't read any science news since the 1950s)

A Life in Balance: Discovery of a Learning Breakthrough Feb. 27 2010
By Bruce I. Vogel - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I couldn't put the book down. It was suggested to me as my child has ADHD and this is about a drug free therapy. Dr. Belgau's story of how he has dedicated his life to helping people learn and perform better is heartwarming and includes ways to help ourselves. A true pioneer and humanitarian. Well written and captivating. A must for parents, teachers and physicians.

An important book! Aug. 3 2014
By Catriona White - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Both my husband and I have read this book, and more than once! It's a fascinating book and an amazing healing system. We are both in our early sixties, and use elements of his system: my husband for lifelong ADHA, and me for vestibular issues. We have the balance board, DVDs and beanbags. The exercises are challenging but fun, and we have both noticed improvements, even though we don't do everything suggested, and sometimes go weeks or months without doing anything (but always return). Dr. Belgau's story is very interesting; the resistance he encountered is shameful and based on ignorance, jealousy and greed. As a former ballet dancer, I am fascinated by what this book and method tell us about the importance of the vestibular system in so many aspects of our lives. Highly, highly recommended!
