5.0 out of 5 stars Trout's Best CD!!, July 1 2004

I have just about all of Trout's CD's, and they're all at least good, some very good, but this one from 1989 is the best, hands down. "Red House" is a spectacular shred-fest (I think Jimi would have liked it), and his tunes are catchy and well-written. His singing is superior on this album than on his more recent releases, in my opinion--he sounds like he's opening his throat more here, especially on the title track. The sound quality isn't quite as good as his more recent stuff, understandably, since recording methods have drastically improved over the last 15 years, but it's still good quality sound overall--not nearly as bad as on his crappy sounding "Telling Stories" CD--that one badly needs to be remixed.

If you're new to Walter Trout, this is an excellent choice for starting your collection!

4.0 out of 5 stars John Mayall's version is best, Feb 21 2003

Walter Trout is a great blues guitarist and this album is good. The story is that John Mayall fell ill on tour and the band filled in with out him and the Walter Trout band was formed. Walter has gone on to greater albums than this but my personal favourite is still the original John Mayall 'Life in the Jungle' which also features Coco Montoya.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exciting Guitar, Jan 10 2003

I first heard a piece of "Red House" while on vacation in Holland in 1991. I finally found out that it was the "Walter Trout Band" and I now have every cd he has out there. This guy really loves his guitar and he'll make you love it too. Crisp clean rock blues. Great stuff!
