It is a scale...it does what scales do...it provides your weight.BUT I bought this scale because it works with my Lifespan treadmill as the treadmill and the scale both have USB ports and save your data and allows you to upload your information to your account. What I did not expect is that the scale would also come with a free membership --- I got a free membership with my treadmill but now I have two and only have to convince my husband to start working out with me!
I am 62 years old a bought the treadmill to help me lose weight in 2011 and keep up better with the grandkids and I learned about the scale from the internal packaging of my treadmill and figured what way to better track my weight loss than with a scale, especially this one that logs all my weights for me.
It is a nice slim design and has the auto shut off feature. Really a great product and simple to use.

Yes it is a scale and functions like a scale should...you step on it and it reads your weight. The plus part is that the scale comes with a free membership to an online personal training site. I love it! You step on the scale and plug the included USB into the port and it transfers the information from the scale to your website. When on the website you can have workout programs created for you or you can simply view your weight over time. Very easy to use and great way to track your progress and keep you motivated.

If you only plan on using this to monitor the fitness results for a single user, then this is for you. This scale gives an accurate readout for weight when compared with other scales. Once you set up an account (included for one user), you can upload your results to an online account. This allows you to visualize your progress, which is a really great motivator.The method used for body fat calculation is a formula that mixes your height, weight, and age and combines it with a reading that the scale takes in under 5 seconds. While the calculation is nowhere near as accurate as using calipers and a trainer, it still helps you see if you are going up or down in body fat percentage.
Here is where the downside comes in.....you can only obtain the body fat percentage for one user since the scale does use a formula which includes height, weight, and age (all stored in a file on the included USB). You MUST plug the USB into the scale if you want a body fat percentage reading. If you want to use the body fat percentage feature for your spouse/children you will have to pay $100 more for an additional account (per person) or buy another product that comes with a membership. The "Supports infinite users with online historical retention" that's listed as a feature in the product description is very misleading. It will support infinite users as long as they have their own paid membership unless they just want standard weight readout (which you can get from a less expensive scale).
